"Haynes’ Allman Brothers pedal board is extremely minimalist. With Gov’t Mule, he utilizes at least 10 pedals, but the with the ABB, he has only an Ernie Ball volume pedal into a GLab Warren Haynes model Wowee Wah into a Palmer Tri Line A/B switch to alternate amps. ..."

Interesting. From my vantage point - waaaay up there on the top balcony of the Beacon last Saturday, I could've sworn I noticed an array of pedals in front of Warren. Me and another guy even chatted about it. Nice article, though.

Derek Trucks’ main guitars are two Gibson Custom Shop Dickey Betts “From One Brother to Another” model SGs, which are based on the 1961-62 SG Duane Allman gave to Betts and both played in the original ABB.

Isn't it Dickey gave Duane the SG for slide?

Looks cool. I will watch tonight. I am gonna guess Derek plays with few pedals if any, from what my ears can tell. Could be wrong though.

Rusty, I stood on the Beaocn stage and looked at the pedal board and went over it with Farmer. What I wrote is what's there.

JSZ, read the sotry. Derek uses no effects.

Swofty- I do beleive you are right. I am confirming now to be certain. I took that line directly from Gibson's description of the instrument... which I should not have done. After I confirm, I will inform Gibson, for what it's worth.

here ya go Al, from the Gibson site:

http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/SG/Gibson-Custom/Dickey-Be tts-SG.aspx

it does say Betts "gifted" it to Duane.

I posted something similar on FB

I thought Derek used two 2000 61' reissue gibson sg with duncan antiquity humbuckers, sometimes with the pick guard taken off, and a no wire abr-1 bridge.

Ben, what I wrote is what Derek was playing at the beacon. Not sure when he made the switch, but this is definitely accurate.

Cool, thanks for the info Alan! Do you know if he is using a stock model or if he did any modifications to it? I ran into Farmer after the show on the 7th and found him to be a really cool, down to earth guy. We talked about Gibson custom, and the steps to take to become a luthier, and a little bit about the upcoming Tokyo run for Warren. Then they come back and pretty much head straight into Wanee weekend. A lot of hard work comes into play between gigs, and I don't think a lot of people realize, or really know how difficult it can be without experiencing it themselves, or witnessing it. Yet, Farmer still had time to talk to some random kid trying to get an autograph and talk shop. That is a hell of a guy right there!

Thanks again Alan!

He switches it up more often than it looks. It seems like he doesn't though because his SGs are always red.
