|Can someone explain the differences between these three types of recording and what I would need for a system to play any or all of these? I know I can handle 16/44.1 not sure about the others.|
Seeking trades of Allmans, Skynyrd, Miles, Hendrix, etc Have lots to offer in return.

44.100 khz is used for CD audio, and will not work on DVD.
48.000 khz ( 96.000khz among others) is used for DVD audio, and will not work for CD audio.
To burn your recording to CD, it will have to be re sampled to 44.100 khz anyway.
Sadly I cannot hear the difference between any of them.
A PS3 will play DVD BD, CD SACD.
Some Blu-Ray players will also play DVD, BD, CD, SACD, & more
Best bet, I think, is find a Blu-Ray player, that will also play PAL/NTSC. Hook that to a home theater, or surround sound.
Something like this maybe. (DVD player)
or maybe this. (Blu-Ray)
Waiting to hear from others.
