Happy Sunday everyone.

For the first time in months it looks like and feels like winter over here. Still no rain though.

Listening to some "new" tunes that arrived the past week. The new version of 9/16/71 sounds fantastic. Captain Skipper did again a remarkable job!

Take care and enjoy your Sunday.

Since it's "Oscar Night":

What your favorite?

I haven't seen most of the nominated movies so couldn't honestly compare
but my favorite for which i keep my fingers crossed is "The Departed".
It's about time Martin Sorcese get's some acknowlegdement.

I hope i can find a tv station that doing a live broadcast. I think all foreign tv stations
aren't broadcasting it and over here in the netherlands a pay channel station has the sole rights to broadcast it. Bummer.

My hopes are for a tv-station i only receive for a couple of days (they switch to another unfamiliar station every week or so). I think called "Stars" and it's broadcasting today directly from LA. One of the hosts are Joan and Melissa Rivers. God awfull stuff so i hope if that station broadcasts the Oscars tonight there are other hosts or no host at all.
"We will be right back after the break" every 3 freaking minutes.

Watching one of the "warm up" programs presented by M & M Rivers was really gut wrenching. Poor jokes by the ego-tripping hosts and no real news or scoops at all.
Dreadfull television.

They looked like the burned out stars in so b-movie horror / slasher flic.

"The Botox Zombies That Ate The Oscars" or "Oscar Night Of The Living Dead".

Let's hear it for "The Departed"!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers & Rant Over.

Hey Roger, that is a great 'Oscar Night' Post. Nobody has started an Oscar thread in Anything Goes so you could post your Oscar Night post over there. Just an idea... Carry on as you were if you don't like it.

BTW, in case you don't know, Ellen DeGeneres is hosting the actual show and she is very funny.

Hey Zeka, Colin, Kim, Roger, Petri, Rob et al.

Happy Friday my friends.

Spring has officially arrived here since yesterday (weatherman said so). Not that we had any winter this year... Blue skies, sunshine and the temp is expected to hit 20 degrees C on the weekend.

Went to a Brazilian bar last night and enjoyed some beautiful live music and a few caipirinhas. The place is very small and it was packed. Mostly members of our local Bazilian community, everybody dancing and singing. These people have music and rythm in their genes, I suppose. Had a great time.

Some gardening and farming work to do this weekend. With the help of the iPod and good music this will not be a problem.

Been listening to a couple of excellent Steely Dan SBD's that I downloaded from TTD (Aug & Sep 1993). Great lineup, performance and sound quality. If anyone wants a copy, just drop me a line.

Roger, thanks for offering the artwork my friend, you can send the files to rrunner918 at yahoo dot com.

Enjoy the weekend!

-Danis

OK, enough... have a super weekend you all!

Happy Friday everybody

I got a new car last Tuesday ... everything on it is electronic ... it is going to take me an age to work out what all the switches and knobs do ... first thing I sussed out was the CD player ... one has to have ones priorities ... now I can sit in it all weekend listening to music while I work out what everything else does

Petri ... hope little Aura gets better soon ... it can't be much fun for her having so many viruses in such a short space of time ... hope you and Leena and young Pyry are all doing ok

Danis ... don't work too hard on the farm ... although with good tunes and good weather it won't be too bad I guess ... as long as you have a cool Amstel at the ready

Roger ... doesn't look like the Mule are heading to London ... I wonder if I can convince my wife we should go to Cologne for the weekend in June

Garry ... hope you get some rain soon otherwise you'll have to drink beer all the time

Kim ... did you ever get your water problems sorted out ? ... hope so, and hope everything is good in Canuckyville

Zeka ... keep Novi Happy

Rob ... 4 weeks from today I'll be buying you a beer in Yogi's

Have a great weekend y'all

Danis what is TTD?

Hi Rob,

It's The Traders' Den, another torrent site, my second favorite after dime.

http://www.thetradersden.org/

At the momment it seems to be having some problem, but I believe it should be up soon. It rarely has any downtime.

You can find very good music on TTD. Even stuff that gets banned on dime (like any Steely Dan, for example) usually finds its way to TTD.

Here are the links to the shows I mentioned:

http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/showthread.php?p=519963
http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/showthread.php?p=508523

Petri, looks like Aura passed the virus to you. Hope you both get well soon.

Colin, after work we usually have a few rounds of tsipouro with small dishes. Tsipouro is the Greek version of moonshine, quite stronger than ouzo. And after the tsipouro we usually have a few rounds of beer to extinguish the fire. Enjoy your new ride. Saw the pic you posted in the trades forum. Nice one.

Garry, I feel your pain mate. Here we had no rain for the entire winter. I can't imagine what it'll be like when summer comes. As for politicians, they are the same lying b*st*rds everywhere.

-Danis

Colin, Danis!!!

Yeah, Aura seems to have passed the virus to me... this is not so fun. I mean, the kids are ill "all the time" and then it's Leena's and my turn... Oh well, I'm gonna take a couple of shots brandy tonight and get bed early.

BTW, has anyone listened to The Beatles's "Love" CD. I bought it 2nd hand yesterday and found out that it's quite interesting. I had my strong prejudices but all those great medleys and surprising combinations of songs made me smile Like "yeah, the rhythm track of Tomorrow Never Knows really spices up Within You Without You. Sounds really good..."

Cheers!

Hello Sweet Peaches!

Hope all have had an enjoyable Saturday.

Petri, sorry you are ill again. Please treat yourself well and get better soon!

Danis, yes, most politicians everywhere are lying b*stards. I see a ray of hope here in Canada for the first time in a long time. Justin Trudeau, 35, the eldest son of a past Prime Minister, Pierre Elliot Trudeau, is running for his first elected seat in the Province of Quebec. He seems to be an honest, sincere, intelligent, caring, sensitive man. If, in the future, he becomes the PM, there might be hope for the integrity of this country. Right now a 'beeeep' is running this country, thankfully being reigned in by an opposing coalition because he only has a minority government.

Colin, I have two outstanding water problems. First, my old, tile foundation drain is still accepting water. Once last fall, after it was 'fixed' twice, I got a bit of water in the basement but I live in fear of the first thaw. I fear I will have a basement full of snow/water. I think the problem is that because those old tiles are mostly filled with dirt, when water seeps into them, the water goes in two opposing directions--into my house and out to the catch basin. In other words, because the tiles are obstructed, the water backwashes into my house and flows to the catch basin. Does that explanation sound plausible?
The second problem is that at some point they will come and take a lot of our money. That is another long story but the upshot is that the Provincial Govt. is comprised of a bunch of *ssh*le thieving bandits!
AnyhOOt, I try not to worry about it too much. I don't want to give them the pleasure of killing me from stress too!
BTW, thanks for asking, my dear. Hope all is well with you, my Beacon bound friend. Enjoy your new 'Wheels' as they say here in Canuckyville!

Happy Weekend Friends!

Hey world This week is going by pretty fast! We have really cold temps right now. It is 8 degrees with windchill feeling like minus 6! Oh well only temporary. Spring is right around the corner.

Hey how many of you like Josh Grobin? My wife likes him a lot. I am not a big fan. I bought her tickets for our anniversary and going to see him tomorrow night.
