This forum has meant a lot to me. And I can tell you that it's meant a lot to many others who read but have never posted. I've relied on Marley's setlists, and Billy Blastoff's reviews, and I thank all of you even though we've never met.

I'm 28 years old and first saw the ABB in 2003 when I was 16. The dad of a friend of mine showed us a poster of the closing of the Fillmore East (which he was at), and introduced us to the Allmans. I caught a train to NYC from NJ with a big gulp of sprite and vodka and I guess never looked back. That was March 14, 2003. And even though I'm from a different generation, the ABB has always been my favorite band, and now I'm very sad. I can imagine many of you are feeling the same way.

I went to the shows this past week on Wed the 22nd and Friday the 24th. Friday's show had to be one of the best I've seen. Hot'lanta, True Gravity, Rockin' Horse and Whipping Post were all insane. Thanks to the band and the people there for an incredible vibe I'll never forget.

But now there won't be another show. I can't load up all my Allmans music sometime in October and think, God I can't wait to go to the Beacon in March. It won't be the same listening to only ABB for a month in anticipation of going to a show. Those days are gone.

So I suppose this post is about saying this: all those times fighting with the ticketmaster site, tailgating at PNC arts center, scalping tickets outside the beacon, or standing in the last row of the upper balcony yet still knowing I was at the show - it was all worth it, because I love the Allman Brothers Band.

Thank you again to the band and to the people I've met at the shows. I've got memories I'll never forget. And even though it's over, I still can't wait to see what they'll do at tonight's show when they play all night. I'll be following on the forum, like always. Take care everyone.

-Michael

Yeah. I'm really glad I got to do the March run the last two years. They were experiences that will never be matched.

Oh. And I really wish I could've gotten Whipping Post more than once in the 6 shows I've seen. But, at least I did get it. I'll never get Hot 'Lanta. That, Please Call Home and Leave My Blues At Home were the only Duane tracks I never got.

Never much of a poster, but I check in to view whats going on. Never missed a beacon year until this year - been a avid follower since 1972. Many fond memories especially the mid-70's at the Capitol Theater and all those rainy muddy shows at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City. Was always very cool at Roosevelt to see the buses with the band come rolling in 1/2 hour late all the time. Remember Greg so stoned he fell off the organ bench during Win Lose or Draw, one of the true great under the radar songwriter songs IMO. Was at the reunion concert in Central Park way back when...They are just an integral part of many of our lives.

I think they will be back in some form again. In the meantime, I can only think that this last performance is one of those shows where if they were taking bets at Vegas, i would put all my money on a Don't Want You No More/Cross to Bear opening - which has always been a sign of getting down to serious business for the night ahead.

Enjoy all.
