Many succumbed to the lure of the StubHub brothel. Never paid a scalper, never will.

Then be satisfied with sticking to your principles instead of criticizing other people. Those "principles" don't make you better than anybody else. I bought one ticket off StubHub a few years ago and I didn't think it was a good deal, so I haven't done it since then. But if I saw a good deal for tonight I'd take it. Music can be force for good and all of that stuff, but concert tickets are a luxury good and they go to people who have disposable income and click fast - and that's assuming the whole system isn't crooked, which it probably is. Spend your money the way you want and let other people do the same.

Zackly. Why I've never been to a show @ the Beacon.
Not sure if I've paid in 40 some years total...the amount of a good seat for one show @ the Beacon!

Not everyone can grab a ticket at the right time for the right price. I was fortunate to get tickets from ticketmaster at the face value price for 3 shows in 3 years. This past winter I was less fortunate b/c it was their last run and tickets went fast. I did end up buying my ticket from a secondary source. It was not the best deal, but I went this past Saturday and it was great. If I was able to be in the city tonight and had available resources I would totally spend the extra to see this last show. If I can buy myself an excellent pair of boots for big money now and again, I am certainly willing to spend money to see an amazing show. They are worth it. Those feelings, that music. I think of it that way.

Everyone here whines like a little bitch about the scalpers EVERY presale and EVERY sale date and then many turn around and enrich these clowns. I don't get it. Love the music; detest the scalpers. The only way to change the scalping dynamic is to not participate. People can do what they please on one condition -- I never want to hear a bad word about a scalper again. Long live Mike Damone!

BS. Not everyone here whines about scalpers. Most of the people that whine about scalpers probably took the same stance as you but plenty of people don't agree with that stance.

Don't wanna go? Don't pay.

Easy.

I don't think a whole lot of people CHOOSE to support people who are reselling tickets. And not everybody doing that is a scalper, by the way; especially with the Allmans at the Beacon in 2014 since we're talking about concerts and travel plans that got rescheduled. The question is what you do if you want tickets and can't get them through the presale or the regular sale. Apparently your view is that people should refuse to see a band they want to see based on who the money goes to. That doesn't make too much sense.

That will never ever work. The problem is not about individual participation. It's systemic: the method of sale is probably crooked. You can't fix that by refusing to buy from scalpers. And the economics are such that there will always be people who want to scalp tickets because there will always be buyers who can afford it. You can choose to do what you want, but why are you spending today of all days trying to flaunt your superiority?

Just stated a fact; not flaunting superiority. You took it as a dig. If you like paying scalpers, that is your prerogative. I wish you happiness.

Marley, it's not flaunting superiority, it's broadcasting stupidity.

Resellers are making a buck, living the dream, buying groceries. Ain't that America?

And all I said is that they can live that dream on someone else's dime. Is "reseller" the new pc term for scalper? Embezzlers are now "asset redstributors."

Resellers, scalpers, bastards, call'em what you will. I've been the scalper and the scalpee, it all comes out in the wash. Who cares?

You can get in the game and dig the scene at the beacon, or not. Free country bro.

After reading all the posts about last night's show, I almost threw logic out the window and was thinking seriously about booking a last minute flight and buying a StubHub ticket for tonight, all total about two grand.

Fortunately common sense and not wanting to be paying the credit card balance for months prevailed and I'm still at home although my thoughts are in NYC.

Really hate missing the last show, but hey, its not the first, nor will it be the last, thing I miss out on that I really want to do. I, and all the rest who can't be there tonight will survive.

No, you said people who buy from them are weak kneed and compared the buyers to johns, then said a bunch of (unnamed) people here are hypocrites for critizing scalpers and then buying tickets from them. Bashing scalpers is pretty safe here and everywhere else in the world, but you made a point of criticizing the buyers and complimenting yourself for not indulging.

I was trying to point out that reselling tickets doesn't make you a scalper. Especially if you wanted to see a show in March and might've traveled from out of town and booked a hotel only to see the show postponed to October at the last minute when you might not've been able to spend the money to do it all again. If you buy a ticket and then immediately put it online for double the face value, sure, you're a scalper.

Anyway if you're going to get up on your high horse and insult people, at least have the guts to stand behind your words. Or you could apologize for this self-aggrandizing performance.

I have never masked my feelings about scalpers and scalping. At the same time, folks can spend their hard-earned money any way they see fit. With my rants, I'd consider myself a hypocrite if I'd succumbed to scalpers. But I sure wish I could be at tonights show!

To all who are going - enjoy the show - enjoy the band - enjoy each others company!

Celebrate the life and legacy of the Allman Brother's Band!
