We finally got the drives we've been trying to get since we moved servers. The 3/26 show has just been installed from these drives and I just watched it. Finally got the quality back to where it was. We are working as fast as we can to get them all downloaded. Hang in there. We're going to leave them all up till March 11. Been a bummer for me watching some of the shows. I don't like having the quality that bad even if it was the best we could do. Somwhow "better than nothing" just doesn't do it. Sorry folks.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Moogis tech support group finally cleared my problem by sending me the required e-mail link for password updating thru their own tech support channel. Their efforts are much appreciated. If anyone else using a Comcast e-mail is having a problem this is the short term solution. The support staff are furiously working with Comcast to resolve why e-mails are not going through. Here's the contact link to get your private fix: info@moogis.com. They'll take care of you!

Chat was fun last nite Butch, thanks, and look forward to rehearsal in Atlanta.

I can log in but the Beacon shows do not load up, is it that way because of the new site ,or is it just me. Can anyone else view last years shows?

Moogis is a cool idea and I look forward to March's show but would love to see some Beacon shows from last year before they are gone

Well, after reading all of this I will hold off a bit longer before I pay my $150.00. Last year I experienced no glitches at all. I don't know why they would change it but if it's not as good as last year Moogis will take a huge hit. I doubt that Butch and his crew would be stupid enough to put out a lousy product and kill all of the work they have done. Butch said that the picture for the upcoming run would be superior to last years and be in HD. If they don't deliver they will suffer the consequences when nobody re ups next year.

Please keep us updated on the progress of this.

Just to clarify, Butch said that they would be using better cameras this year (720 vs 1080) but the stream will still not be in HD. Standard TV is about 3.5-4 mbits, HD is
anywhere from 11Mbits to 15Mbits. The Beacon streams last year were 1Mbit and will probably be around 1Mbit this year.

AS for the quality of the 2009 shows, that is something that we were forced do deal with when we switched companies for this year's show. We are upgrading them now and they are in no way a reflection of what you will be seeing this year from the Palace. Every aspect of what we are doing, including the size of the stream that we will be using, is being upgraded. You will all be getting e-mails with all of the tech data very soon.

My apologies for not responding to this forum sooner. I have been kinda up to my ears. My sincerest apologies to anyone that has been experiencing problems logging onto the new site. As with any new venture, bugs will exist and we have had some of them pop up. As far as we knew most, if not all, of them had been dealt with. We will be doing a live chat tonight at 8:30. I am going onto the site via Skype and we will open up chat to everyone, whether you're a member or not. If you are still having problems logging on please stop by and let's talk about it. Again my apologies. We are now aware of these particular issues and I promise that they will be dealt with as soon as possible.

Open letter to Butch Trucks:

I'm sure that you are well aware that numerous users are having problems getting their passwords reset. It's been over a week since this started and you have yet to offer any updates. You've always provided information about Moogis and its evolution and frequently asked for our help to both ante up and spread the word to others. I am very disappointed that you have not offered your user base any status updates during this crisis. You are certainly aware that quality customer support is the way you not only maintain this base but get the positive momentum that leads to new customers. I don't know what technical battles are going on behind the scenes but with any service the customer should come first. I hope you will act quickly to at least update us as to why we can't get passwords if not finally have the problem resolved satisfactorily for all users.

Took the advice in the Moogis forum & got my password finally & logged on.
We watched part of one of the newer shows on there & were VERY disappointed with the video quality. And with the way it was done. I hope all the shows won't be like that!
Wow.

I hope Butch or someone else comes on here soon to explain what's going on. I am glad now that I didn't re up sooner. I want to be sure it's gonna be as good as last year before I order. All I have heard so far is that the video quality isn't as good as last year. Butch said that even with a cheaper technology it would be superior video. I hope he is right.

This is what the Moogis Admins tell me:

"Hi .....thanx so much for your help on this Comcast thing.
I too have been delving heavily into this and below you can see from the logs on our server, that Comcast is putting our emails into a Temporary Holding pattern.
Trouble is.....we never seem to get out of that.......and let the mail pass through.

I am calling Comcast right now and I will forward them our mail logs.....to prove to them what is going on.
We should have this resolved very soon.

thanx again..............df"

I have not included the logs, but I can assure you that there were many.

From the new interview, what I feared is what happened....

Letís talk about Moogis, which youíve confirmed is returning this year. Does the United Palace, being an older theater, necessitate any changes to your set-up from last year?

Well, weíre not using the same set-up. Technology has evolved drastically since last year, and weíre going to run it all over an Internet connection this year. From what Iíve been told, we will have a better signal just using the Internet connection. With what we had last year, we pretty much had the ability to withstand anything short of a nuclear explosion. We think itís not worth all that it cost us for that. This year we can do it for much cheaper, and with the new compression techniques Ė plus more bandwidth available Ė most people will get a much better signal than last year and itíll cost us 20 to 25 percent of what it did last year.

Some comments on the changes from last year to this year. Last year they had a T1 connection. This is a 1.54Mbit dedicated symetrical pipe (1.54 both up and down).
This year they are talking about using an "internet connection". Some comments.

The T1 costs more because it is a dedicated resource. You are not sharing infrastructure
with other users. The internet connection (unless it's FIOS) will be going through the
shared infrastructure of (probably) a cable company. Thus other users activity can
impact both the speed of your connection and, perhaps more importantly, the latency.
This is the value of the T1, speed and latency are fairly constant and not impacted
by other users. Hopefully if a few neighboring internet users crank up bittorrents we won't see the
live feed impacted. This is exactly what happend with my internet connection (comcast)
and they will slow down my activity if the node I'm on gets congested.

The other issue is that the T1 is symetrical while most internet connections are not.
Most people do much more downloading than uploading so the network infrastructure
has much more bandwidth allocated to downstream than upstream.

Hopefully the people at Moogis know what they are doing and these issues
will not come up, but I'm begining to have a bad feeling about this.

Recieved an email from tech help and was finally able to log on so I can view videos(haven't tried to watch one yet, so I'll hold off on commenting about video quality/stream).

But, still unable to log in to the forum. So, I sent another request for help.

I would recommend emailing info@moogis.com. I won't say I'm impressed with the response because it took five days for them to figure out the problem. Just glad to get my Moogis back.

Anyways I hope your tech problems are solved and we are chatting watching the show here in a couple of weeks

*sigh* Posted in AG Moogis thread ...

As Sue stated there is a thread in the forum on Moogis that you can view even if you are not logged in that will probably offer the most help. One of the Moogis tech support guys is posting to it offering assistance, he says they are aware that people are having some difficulties and that they are trying to resolve it ASAP. Here is a post from one guy who had a similar problem to everyone here, the tech support helped him and resolved the issue, here is what the User posted as advice for fixing the issue:

As described above I also had problems with receiving mails for the password reset, from form requests to the tech support and registering to the forum. I am not using comcast and according to other posts some folks have a tough time as well.

With the help of the tech support I was able to get my subscription and forum accounts up and running today, so here are some suggestions what to do if you don't get mails when trying to reset your password:

1. If you don't already have a gmail account, create one. Google does not seem to filter any messages (at least not those from Moogis).

2. Send a request to the tech support using the form 'Contacts' -> 'Technical Inquiries'

- tell them the mail address you are using for your Moogis subscription
- ask to forward the latest request for the password reset to your gmail account
- if you want to get a copy of the form request, enter your gmail address and tick 'E-mail a copy of this message to your own address.'

3. If you received the mail for the password request from the tech support, click on the link and set a new password. In case you get an error message 'Invalid user account' you either sent a new password request again or you did not receive the latest password request. Ask the tech support if there are any newer requests.

4. Once you successfully changed your password, you can login to Moogis again.

If you already had problems with the password request, you should also use the gmail address to register to the forum. Once you activated the account by clicking on the link that is sent to you by mail, you can change your mail address in your profile settings to the one you want to use (My Profile -> Edit Your Details).

Hope that helps.

Ryan

waiting to hear back about getting authorized for the forum

the shows I watched are glitchy and no better than youtube vids.

the beacon shows won't even properly load.

still not feeling too good about this.

why didn't they think to do all this in the fall or early winter before getting
everyone in and switching it up?

that and plugging a laptop into the internet as a feed for all if us.
hope to hell the harddrive doesn't crash ,...
