After being chewed out by a brother here for being in the wrong neighborhood (thanks Mark), and being told it would be wise to emulate the behavior of NFL thread participants (YIKES!!!!), I figured June is a good time to fire this puppy up. We can have a thread even if the season is locked out. What do you think? Saeson or no, and when do you think it might start? After the disaster that was the Cowboy's season last year I'm not so sure a lockout isn't a good thing.

oh, btw. MacKenzie. How about updating the thread title to first, "2012" and then something appropriate like: " It Looks Like the Patriots' Year".

thanks.

Finally...glory and might, the Patriot Way, has reached the desert.

Patrioy fans couldn't find their a** with a map. That's why they need guide dogs.

And video equipment.

Looks like Cowgirl fans could use spellcheck.

Don't need it. We have you.

CTE is a huge problem, and the NFL has a problem. I know there are those that don't like the idea that these are the gladiators of our age, that the NFL doesn't use them to beat the hell out of each other for money and then wash their hands of them when it's over, but...something needs to change.

Jerry, I would also like the league to take a long hard look at HGH and whatever other anabolic steroids these guys are taking. That sht turns a brain to mush. The NFL is getting to be like the WWE with players going haywire every so often. While some of it has to do with CTE, I believe a lot has to do with the sht they are putting in their bodies. Just my opinion of course.

I used to love the way Lyle Alzado played. He was a wild man, but he knew that anabolic steroids killed him and made him nuts. Again, just my opinion, but I think the NFL is putting so much emphasis on CTE, as to block some of the bad news about the stuff these guys are taking. No human gets as big as these guys by just working out. Here is a quote from Alzado just before he died in his early 40s:

"It was addicting, mentally addicting. Now I'm sick, and I'm scared. Ninety per cent of the athletes I know are on the stuff. We're not born to be 300lbs or jump 30ft. But all the time I was taking steroids, I knew they were making me play better. I became very violent on the field and off it. I did things only crazy people do. Once a guy sideswiped my car and I beat the hell out of him. Now look at me. My hair's gone, I wobble when I walk and have to hold on to someone for support, and I have trouble remembering things. My last wish? That no one else ever dies this way".

I mentioned a time or two my father played at Notre Dame with leather helmets in the early 40's. They all got their teeth knocked out but never any concussions, at least to the current extent. My father lived to be 84, cognizant to the day before he died.

Thanks you guys. DUG man ...I'm leanin' in.

True.

I may have a poor memory, but I don't remember the NFL heroes of my youth committing suicide. They were a lot smaller than present day players and didn't have the same protective equipment.

Andre Waters of the Eagles killed himself in 2006. This from Wiki:

"Dr. Omalu determined that Waters' brain tissue had degenerated into that of an 85-year-old man with similar characteristics to those of early-stage Alzheimer's victims. Omalu said he believed that the damage was caused and/or hastened by the numerous concussions Waters sustained playing football. Additionally, Omalu said that Waters would have been fully incapacitated within ten years."

He was 44 when he died.

The bodies continue to pile up. Seau apparently shot himself in the chest, just like Dave Duerson. Duerson did so because he wanted his brain studied.

Looks like its true. I played Oceanside HS every year (long before Seau played). Really tight knit community that has produced a lot of great football players. RIP.

That's the 8th member of the '94 Super Bowl team to pass away.
