Just watched the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. I love the event. The speeches are so cool. I really liked Tim Raines'.

We go from 1 to the other of the 2 hottest teams in AL, KC & Tribe -- all we can do is hope to break out bats & bludgeon opponents w/offense -- Tribe plenty stoked to see Mr Fister tonite

Sawx trivia ? -- when will Addison get a sore arm --
David doing fine regrouping after being assailed in papers -- there's no excuse for a writer/newspaper encouraging people to sling mud at someone because of a personal grievance
while there's an aspect of David 'bailing on the team', seeing big headlines that Fenway fans should hate you, is bad for the mental health

look at Seattle 1-2 punch, Segura (.323 BA in 322 at bats) and Gamel (.322 BA in 323 at bats) --
to go along w/Paxton & Felix on mound -- but still at .500

LAD on pace to crush previous record of 111 wins, In 154 Games, set by 1954 Tribe -- it's crazy how good they're goin, & without AG for most of it -- not since 1996 NYY juggernaut, & now they have Yu Darvish -- Sonny Gray I think is overrated

Can Tygiz provide help -- meantime Help Is on The Way w/midweek arrival of a makeshift-at-best ChiSox squad that, for all the recent media trumpetings of an incredibly bright future -- is causing a stench at Mr. Comiskey's resting place, that doesn't come from turning in his grave

normally a financial bonanza for the A's, in the same fashion that last Wed.-Thurs was for ChiSox, it's a matchup of Bay Area cellar dwellers this time in Oakland & few from SF will be there -- 25G max

something if fundamentally wrong if both us & Bucs don't sweep against cellar dwellers Reds & ChiSox -- in short, BO-SAWX

nope, sellouts -- Giants fans gotta be the most loyal, they bang out their stadium every game, even in this unsightly season

Jon Lester & Mas Scherzer hit their 1st career HRs last night -- Lester got through it uninjured, good for him

No Pedey makes it tough -- the return of Brock Holt, & arrivals of Devers & Nunez, are a God send so far -- Chris proved he was human last night but the bats picked him up -- now we need to do that for Rick, he's gotten sparse help this year
but holy heck, Watta catch the Tribe's CF made -- JBJ-esque, & a clear candidate for catch of the year

Dustin is a Charlie Hustle throwback -- he's hit .307 this season w/leg discomfort that sidelines 99% of his peers -- t's a cartilage thing, unrelated to the surgery he had in the same knee last Oct., & will crop up periodically for the rest of his career, they're saying

yes we made good moves & should be OK in a weak div -- but Sox not fully locked & loaded w/out Pedey

all teams, us included, genuflect to LAD, it's their game this season, all others are pretenders -- let's go Sox

This is the crucial week obviously -- keep it solid by winning both series, esp NY -- Sawx fans base solid in TB

quote:
the catastrophic nature of his arm injury shortly after arriving in March 2016, will keep Carson Smith on the sideline for the second straight season, it appears
quote:

hold on tho -- Carson toed the rubber recently for the first time in 17 months, throwing 18 carefully-monitored pitches in a game for Double A Portland
if it went well, word was, next step, similar stint tmrw nite for PawSox
even today's advanced medical technologies/sciences couldn't counter the severity of his April 2016 arm injury, or reduce the nearly 2-year recovery period
-- had it happened 30-40 years ago however, it likely would've ended his career, apparently -- Dr. Frank Jobe, some have said, would've been in over his head

RIP Don Baylor, a great player -- the only to play on 3 straight WS teams w/3 teams beginning w/1986 Sox
RIP Darren Daulton

So Stephen has to like Chris Sale. How that skinny beanpole can throw so hard is beyond me. I wonder if he or Kluber wins the Cy Young.

He does -- Chris pitched on 6 days rest last night -- same w/Rick tonite, & after seeing Sale feed em aspirins like that, & knowing David is AWOL -- if there was any time for Rick to regain his 2016 form, 2nite Is It --

Pedey mended qwik & is gonna DH 2nite -- liking the look of the club more & more -- we seldom have the same lineup, & That Is Big for this team -- Hanley plays thru chronic discomfort in both shoulders, he & Pedey, 2 gamers

but yes, Chris has been immense -- the trade for him worked out awesome -- think Lee is right, he & Kluber top for Cy award, Kluber was in command last night too

David's sore arm recurred at same time as media blowup -- Farrell was quoted at 1st that it was nothing like what sidelined him 1st 3 mos of season & that he'd be back shortly (Boston Herald)
not so, & hopefully David isn't going down the Dice K road -- fantastic 1st year, good 2nd year...then 3 years of rehab starts --

17-9, 3.99 ERA as we won AL East in 2016 --however, David also had 231 IP last year, 2nd-most in his career -- his arm just hadn't recovered enough when spring training came, apparently, because he got a sore arm>DL almost immediately

that 'good' 2nd year won't come this year, but mayb David will have a complete recovery -- if he pitches well, people will be on his side --
he wasn't back long enough this year to have a sore arm tho, & there was no sign of anything wrong prior to his dustup with Eckersley etc

1 of those legends that lives on in baseball -- both players from the 1st called the reports Baloney & indeed, a well-known photo shows Ty Cobb & Honus Wagner, who was of German descent, talking hitting during the 1909 WS

that may have been last time Bucs & Tygiz played each other -- but even in winning the WS, Pirates didn't get the pitching they've gotten so far in last 2 nites of 2017 -- 6 hits over 18 innings

Back in the day, a starter going like Eduard was last night, would be getting his 2nd wind, stoked to the 9s about getting back out there & finishing em off w/ **** he knows they can't hit, in a huge Friday night game in the Bronx

NEVER would a starter simply be yanked willy-nilly, while he's in command like that -- Only If He Got In Trouble would the bullpen be summoned
this CRAP of pitch counts & no CGs has been real injurious to the game -- all they try to do is preserve their health, & all it's done is make DL babies out of them

in fairness, our bullpen has been great -- but the frustration of being yanked by rote....it's surprising the athletes themselves don't bitch about it, having to just shut down on a dime like that at the top of his game -- you'd think the adrenaline alone...

nope, even losin 3-0 cheers went up during the 7th-inning stretch -- when they saw Eduard giving way to one Matt Barnes -- who promptly walked the first batter he faced giving way to a succession of relievers w/hittable stuff compared to his -- home-fried momentum & just like that -- un-fucking-believable

nope the yankeepankies loved it when Eduard departed -- that loss stung -- we needed the Stinger out there
The Stinger -- Lee Stange -- he was in 1 of the great duels 8/11/67 in a game that was equally huge w/pennant feva grippin the Hub  -- beaten 1-0 in Calif. on Lynn McLothin's 3-hitter -- the Stinger, 7 IP, 4 hits 1 run (bottom 4th), 5Ks 1 BB -- & yes John Wyatt was brought in for last inning

Lee (8-10) didn't pitch too well down the stretch but did that night, & probly will be there Wednesday at the Aug. 16 50th-anniversary tribute at Fenway (w/Cards in town too) -- it will be muted tho if their team is still rattled by last night -- losses that ugly can linger, but let's go-Sox Bos-ton RedSox

Agreed. I can't stand Bryce Harper, I think he's a punk. However, I wouldn't want anyone's career to end on that freak occurrence. Surprised he is only on the 10-day DL. Hope he's okay. The Nationals will REALLY need him to get by The Dodgers and maybe the Cubs (if they even make it).

Sox are going to unveil a permanent Tony C display tomorrow in the park
his brothers Billy and Richie will do the first pitches at tmrw nite's game, and at 8:42 p.m., the game will be stopped for a moment of silence
in tribute to Tony C
the quote on the cover of the biography of Tony published some 10 or so years ago Speaks Volumes -- paraphrasing, "in a full career playing for the Boston Red Sox, Tony would have hit 500 home runs in his sleep."
from someone who knows better than anyone -- #8

Billy & Richie are campaigning for Tony's number to be retired -- I'd like to see it continue to be worn, It's Tony's Number no matter who's wearin it now, everyone knows that -- they've been classy about it & appreciate what the Sox are doing for Tony, article says

M-m-mmookie, Clutch, JBJ wouldn't be denied the winning run, awesome as we catch the Cards -- watta treat for Tony's teammates who were there last night (17 in all) for the 50th reunion -- & were reminded of how they too won games in that unforgettable 1967 season

Sandy has a bad knee, he's only caught 5 games this month, so Swihart likely to be called up --
In 1st Season W/Out Big Papi, We've Played Good -- wotta team, let's go Sox

Will take any help I can get to figure out where this comes from -- maybe something to do with the recent trouble in Charlottesville -- no clue here
I do know that Yawkey personally called Elston Howard on the phone in 1967 and told him, "Elston, we want you here in Boston"
Would like to hear what Reggie Smith, Jim Rice and others think of this
Mr. Henry will have his hands full with this one
Let's go Sox

Cahl went 4-for-5 as a rookie on his birthday -- however, aside from a 5-1-4-1 line (4 hits) in 1976, he never hit too much on his birthday
Carl looked his age (78) during some of the interviews at the 50th reunion -- watta guy

Great one! Doug Fister had a similar game the night b4 -- gave up a home run 3 pitches into the game, then a no-no the rest of the way -- rare to see one, let alone 2-in-2-nights of these awesome gems -- what came to mind (slowly ) was the 1-hitter the Cubs Bob Hendley threw at LAD Sept. 1965
...only to be outdueled by some lefty Sanford Braun's no-no
leaping ahead, we should get Pedey & JBJ back 2nd week in Sept -- let's go Sox

Happy Birthday Frank Robinson -- One Of The Greats -- 586 HR, 4th on all-time list when he retired, currently 10th
he's loving what he's seeing from his two AL teams, Balt & Cleve (W7) -- who could forget it, Frank, the Indians' 1st player-manager since Lou Boudreau (& last to this day), cranking a home run, In His First At-Bat On Opening Day 1975, as the crowd roared at cavermous Municipal Stadium

& in his first year with Orioles (1966), Burning Down The League en route to Triple Crown & 4-game sweep over Koufax & Dodgiz

he's as reveed in Cincinnati as he is in Balt -- 1st player to hit 100 HR in both leagues -- he & Pete Rose were only teammates for 3 years but what a tandem that must have been --

just as fellow HOF immortal Ted W presided over the Sens' move Outta town, Frank brought them back 30 years later as the Nats (relocating from Montreal) -- he and fellow Oriole great Davey Johnson helped them get re-established

It's not a typo
Stephen, outta control -- his 1st MLB HR, powering the righty to his 2nd career CG -- have changed my mind, a no-no is in Stephen's September -- at the very least, 7 IP, 0 hits 0 BB, 9 Ks

"90 % of baseball is half-mental" -- Yogi
that's the dilemma David is dealing with -- his arm is sound, once it registers upstairs & he pronounces himself pain-free, hopefully he'll be the David of old -- he just wants to see how they do in his absence...

what about Aroldis Chapman -- banished to the bench, then says he has a sore arm even though MRI disproved it -- Frank, Brooks, Pete Rose, Yastrzemski, Al Kaline, Mays, McCovey, Hank Aaron -- all those old timers scoff at this stuff -- fly on the wall hears "wimps, crybabies, p...ies", during their conversations -- "Breach Of Contract" regularly mentioned too
