Whose going? And for those familiar with the venue a couple of questions. First, does it tend to get cool at night? Second how uptight are they about cameras and/or water bottles being brought in. I can't wait.

I'm just a maybe.

As far as the venue goes, what a lovely place! The Ives Center is on the campus of Western CT State University in Danbury, not far from I-84. I've seen a number of shows there, though not since the Black Crowes 2 summers back. Anyway, you park in the school parking lot and walk through a path in the woods to the site; there is a large pond on which the stage sits. The lawn slopes uphill from there. There are maybe 50 rows of folding chair seats, roped off, and then a massive open lawn. For the Crowes, there was a big screen set up halfway up the lawn. It was like being at a drive-in almost! The lawn leads to woods, in which you can wander. It does get nice and cool, esp near and in the woods.

For the Crowes show, we were able to bring in coolers with water, and we had our handy bourbon flasks and folding chairs. Security was very mellow. At that show, they were selling good beers like Sierra Nevada for 4 bucks a pop, which is unreal!!!!!! You may want to check the website to see what kind of restrictions they have for this gig.

Anyway, things have always been cool at The Ives. Maybe it's because it's out of the way or just on such a lovely property, no one gets out of hand. If you are aching for a good view, do get there early, as plenty of wise people know the lawn scene. Jaimoe's Jassz band is opening. Actually, I'd be surprised if it gets too busy. I don't think the Mule is that well known. We have plenty of room to move at the Crowes show.

Thanks for the tips. It just so happens we have two of those reserved seats!

This is a great venue. Should be a pretty mellow scene. Last year for Mule it was about 2/3 full at most.

Definately get there early for Jaimoe's band, they are excellent.

Weather forecast calls for a nice day, let's hope it is!

last year. See you there

It was one of the best most chill venues I"ve ever been in.

Let me say that again, since I"m usually a complainer. It was one of the most chill best outdoor venues on the east coast I have ever been in.

The food and drink is limited but you can bring your own stuff I think. I recall that from last year. A lot of people in the lawn were having picnics. There is some beer and drinks and food, but just limited quantities and varieties, so you might want to bring some extra.

It isn't a covered venue so if it rains bring rain gear. I think the band is covered. And they are separated by a little river/moat thing. It is a very chill interesting venue. I liked it a lot plus a lot of friends were there to hang so it was a fun night.

This is the most chill venue in the Nth East I've ever been at.

Mule's site says 6:30 for the gates but the venue has 5:30 for the gates. I think the venue is correct but if I hear different I will post on it.

Here is the info from the venue:

Gates are at 5:30 PM

Jaimoe's Band is coming on at 6:30 ish - they are great. The singer Jr Mack is great. See them if you can.

I guess Mule will be on at 7:30 ish then.

Tickets are still available as there is a large lawn.
http://www.ivesconcertpark.com/Events/index.php?tab=0#GM

Uncovered seating so bring rain gear if it rains as I think the stage is covered and unless there is lightening the show will go on.

I remembered that there was little food at this place so low and behold I see you can bring food., No drinks on your own but food. Do it cause there was very little food of interest to be had as I remember last year. Just some dogs or something.

Here's the park rules for your convenience.

All concerts are rain or shine. Free parking on site, please carpool. No pets, no glass, no alcohol or beverages of any kind. Soft drinks, water, energy drinks, beer, wine, food and snacks are available for purchase.

Please leave the following items at home; animals/pets, fireworks, video equipment, tape recorders, cooking equipment, cameras, weapons, illegal drugs, bikes, and baby strollers. No coolers allowed in reserved section, lawn only..

Guests are welcome to bring the following items:

blankets, lawn chairs, binoculars, purses, coolers (food only) no beverages of any kind are allowed into the park. "Tailgating" is strictly prohibited.

Picture ID is required for all beverage alcoholic purchases. All guests may be subject to search prior to entering Ives Concert Park. Policies are subject to change.

If someone has a medical emergency or requires special attention seek Ives on site Security. Camping is prohibited. Special arrangements for wheelchair accessibility are available. Please call 203.837.9226.

This is a great venue. Its about 25 minutes from my house. Unfortunately, I can't make it this year, have to head to my brother in laws 40th birthday. Check the venue website though about coolers. For some reason, I have a feeling they may have changed that rule.

Lance, Matt's drum tech is saying the doors are at 5 so if you get there a little early, it should be ok.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just copied the above from the venue's web site. Food is ok. No Beverages.
Have you been over to Ridgefield Playhouse yet? Its not that far from this venue, and I actually think Ridgefield Playhouse works in conjunction with the Ives Center to put on the summer concert series. The Playhouse is a great chill venue too, and very intimate. I saw Gregg there a few months ago as well as DTB. I also checked out Levon's band up there and that was a great setting to see his band. If you guys haven't been to Ridgefield Playhouse, check that out too. I think Susan is playing up there in the Fall.
people get ready, da Mule was red hot last night at Nat'l Harbor. I think the line-up is very good at this point.
Such a pleasure to hear Warren Haynes throw down in his natural habitat.
Abts? say no more...
DL is outstanding on keys and the trumpet was a cool surprise. With Jens the final piece is in place...
will download from mule tracks as soon as it's up. Great beatles medley with much more than the setlist gives...I Feel Fine riffs, a long jam on Taxman.
Inside Outside Woman is a killa dilla...
enjoy
Hey, does anyone know, can you buy tix at the door for this?
My circumstances are keeping me up in the air, so I am not sure I want to buy tix in advance. I guess I may end up ordering them and going to the Pick-Up Booth?
If I am there, I will be in a Tommy Bolin t-shirt; I look vaguely like Steven King. We usually set up near the edge of the woods on the far side of the lawn. See you there, maybe!!
Jim, you should still be able to get tickets but call the box office before you trek out if you have a long drive. They have a lawn so I think there should be enough tickets. Though I do know A lot of people who are going. It should be a fun time. Hope you can make it.
