Some of you or all of you might know that Oteil made a cameo in the 1979 movie BEING THERE starring the late great Peter Sellers. If not, check this out. He is one of the street boys who approach "Chance The Gardener." You have to wait about 3 1/2 minutes but see if you can find him!

(This clip is called "2001 space odyssey - Sprach Zarathustra" on Youtube, but it's the song that's playing on the soundtrack.)

Oteil is the first boy in the gang that talks, he is wearing a jacket and a red t shirt. He is standing next to the other boy who talks, about "Rafael."

Chance the Gardener (Peter Sellers) asks "Excuse me, could you please tell me where I can find a garden to work in"

OTEIL says: "A garden? What are you growing, man"

Then he walks away as Chance is talking to him. If you look closely there seems to be a continuity error because in the next frame Oteil is back, and standing next to the guy who starts talking about " Chicken Sh1t Rafael."

I once asked Oteil about his role as "Street Punk", as the credits called him ( I think), but he informed me that the character's name was Lolo.

That's the Deodato version of "2001 space odyssey - Sprach Zarathustra", featuring John Tropea on guitar.

Oteil was also in "The Trial of Billy Jack"...around that same time....but I have never been able to find it and I have watched that AWFUL movie about 100 times for the specific purpose. I think there are a some crowd scenes were he must be in the background. I asked Oteil about it one time and he laughed about it and said he couldnt remember what scene or were it was in the movie or if the scene never made it to the final cut. But he got a kick out me asking about it.

Also, I loves me some DeoDato 2001 A.S.Z...thats some funky $hit right there!
Had this album called "the sounds of '73" with a black cover and some groovy dancin sillouettes on it...i wore that track OUT on our record player.

The Trial of Billy Jack came out in 1974, five years prior to Being There.

I stand corrected...
That was "Billy Jack goes to Washington", the final installment in the series. Came out in '77, but i think it was a very limited release. You can get it as part of the billy jack collection on DVD, which I HIGHLY reccomend.

My bad...
Still a horrendous movie though.
