They do. They're virtual people. When you bump into them IRL, they're wearing their simulacrum suits. In reality, Lana and Rowland are programs. Watch The Matrix Reloaded again . . . it will explain everything.

Back when we only had dial-up internet and one phone line at home, my wife signed up so she could reach me via PMs!

Super secret user name, and she has zero posts.
Jen sort of gets it, likes the same music, but she's got way too many other things going on to have the time to hang out on the internet.
She's also met a ton of people from here...so those folks know she's the nicer of the two of us!

I was dating someone awhile ago who very very jealous of my time on HTW. He never made it to SO status. But while we were dating, he created a fake identity, then started posting. He started with a “hey I’m new here” everyone (including me) welcome him – well the fake him. Then I started getting really weird PMs from him. He completely misrepresented himself to lure me into responding inappropriately. It didn’t take long for me to figure it out and he was shocked when I did. I dumped him immediately.

Good for you! It sounds like something my husband might try, if he actually new how to use a computer. He wouldn't be mean or anything, but would flirt outrageously via PM if he knew how. He's crazy like that!

At least Bluedad is forward enough to make inappropriate advances in the public forum. (Well, in HIS mind, they're appropriate.)

I don't have an SO and I never will unless I find a woman who would dig my music. I'm set in my ways and the first time I heard the words "turn that cr@p off" she would be out on the curb with her wardrobe and a bunch of shoe boxes!!!

On a more serious note I'm sorry to hear about your ex wife blowing money on a dating site while ignoring her kids Eric. After a few months of doing that kind of desperate searching for some strange dude, she's gonna be hit square in the head with a lightning bolt of realization that she threw away the best husband and father. Someone better than anyone else she can find on some stupid website. When she finally realizes what she has lost forever she will be devastated. It is a lesson I learned myself 25 years ago when I didn't treat the only woman I was ever in love with the right way and broke up with her because I thought I was the sh!t at the time and could get any woman I wanted. It took about three months to realize I had made the biggest mistake of my life. I called and pleaded and begged, but it was too late. I was devastated for years and have yet to find that kind of connection. She is married (to the same guy who she started dating after our breakup) with three beautiful kids and is one of the sweetest and most well rounded people I know.

Karma works that way and I believe you're ex will have major regrets and good things will happen for you Eric. Just stay true to yourself and everything will work out for you and you're kids.

Thanks Pete.

Very sad when the kids do not want to go home to her. They cry their hearts out to stay with me. She barely feeds them and if anything it is fast food, no well rounded meals. She barely plays or interacts with them. We were sitting almost ready to eat and my son, Connor, says "Da Da I love it here cause you interact with me" Last night I had them over and my daughter Olivia says can you sing me twinkle twinkle and itsy spider. I like when you do that, mommy doesn't do it anymore.

Her family has admitted she is suffering from depression but she says she is not. Right now her family is sitting by the wayside letting her fall flat on her face. Maybe she will wake up.

Eric, I know $50K sounds like a lot of money, and it is, no doubt. Maybe something will happen and the courts will be forced to turn custody over to you without you having to take her to court. My heart aches for your kids. They are angels.

Not currently in a relationship but my long-time SO who I recently split with is a big music fan and loves the Bros and all of the splinter groups. Don't know what his reaction to my time on the site is as the point is now moot. Musically we were on same page but it was a relationship that ended up totally revolving around one person (not me ) and I needed to strike out and have some life for myself.

Rhonda - that person sounds just plain creepy!!!

Eric - you know how I feel.

She's somebody elses SO now...
She sat between me and her hubby at the last ABB show in KC.
Also they are picking me up from the airport Sat morning in KC to go to my son's college graduation ceremony.
After that I wonder....are we still a disfunctional family or is it all completed.

Hey, that's awesome that you can get along! I bet your kids appreciate you both being there. My son's mom and I do stuff together and I know my son loves it.

Here's to being functionally dysfunctional...

We have been married 38 years and I guess we learned to put up with each other.
We dated in college I first heard of the ABB from him. He had a couple of their albums.
He still likes the music but not like I do. He mostly listens to jazz these days and I'm fine
with that. However, he does not understand listening to the same band all day. And he really doesn't understand seeing an artist in a live show several times a year. Last October, we caught two of Gregg's shows in the same weekand and he drew the line at that. What he really enjoyed
though was the JFD. We met a lot of folks from here and the music was excellent. He likes to play golf and fish and leaves me alone to do what I want. He thinks I spend too much time on the Internet.

Hey there sweet family,

It seems funny now (kind of, I guess) that a lot of people once thought the ABB's management had invented me ... that they'd come up with a marketing scheme to have a sister to the world, and had a bunch of people creating/driving the didn't-really-exist "persona" behind the screen. The management of other bands in particular always seemed surprised to meet me in person back in the day. I remember one of the GDead folks telling Bert what a brilliant idea and "hot little commodity" "Lana" was. You can't make this stuff, or me, up!

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

My wife is a big fan of classic rock....she hates computers and only uses it to check her email or for research. She says I spend way too much time on it...not just here but on it in general....I do a lot of promo for my band and always have to work on something...she pushes me to be the best I can be on guitar....I'm really blessed...B

Rose doesn't mind especially when I say we are going away for the weekend to see DTB and Susan T or we're going to Red Rocks. That makes it OK.
While ABB isn't her favorite music, she enjoys being me when I enjoy myself at the shows. My daughters also like coming to shows (as long as I buy the tickets). I guess I'm fairly lucky in that respect.
