Howdy folks! I'm heading down to Miami, FL this Wednesday through the following Friday- like nine days. Anyone recommend any bars, restaurants, clubs, local bands to check out? Jambase diid not return too much of interest on the initial peruse. I always try to find the local paper that lists all the night clubs, etc to see what's good when I get there. But I fugred maybe some of my friends here can lend me a hand.

Thanks & peace~! Brian

Lotsa Flamenco on the streets if you catch it right. Last time I was Hard Rock there they had a totally bitchin' stained glass Duane Allman.

Hey Thanks for the combeacks!

I am 31, love live music, jamming with new people (been playng guitar for twenty years), coming down to Miami to do work for the Coats Guard, don't need any drugs but thanks for the offer!, I have most evenings free to find good food, meaning healthy for the most part, and would love to know the names of some of the local venues to check their web sites for shows while I am there. I don't know if I will be able to travel with my guitar, so if anyon eis local & wants to jam please chime in & I'll meet you at the local music store or whatever!

Peace~! Brian

Hey Brian I am in Miami. Tobacco Road (downtown) is Miami's oldest bar and they usually have live music every night. There is a small local neighborhood microbrew pub on south bch called the Abbey brewing Co. no music but really tasty beers and cool people. Ft. Lauderdale has a better music scene than Miami. Check out the Culture room on jambase to see if there are any shows taking place while you are in town. Have a good time!

Howdy folks! Thanks to those of you have have given me great input on what to do while I am here. I have found that we are staying at the Commodore Inn in Coconut Grove. I have had the opportunity to eat at a great place called the Argentinan Steak House, which is visible from my window. There is a beautiful New Orleans-style night club just across the street from where I am staying. But I have been working crazy hours & don't have the energy or time to do much in the evening.

Instead I hit South Beach yesterday. Let's just say this. Well, what has not been said about South Beach that I can say? I parked my car on a meter, and after walking on the beach for fifteen minutes, forgot where I left it. It took me three hours to find it, and a cab ride later since I got so dehydrated, I finally found it, sunburned to a crisp, and feeling as though, yes, it was really worth it.

I plan to head back tomorrow. And tomorrow night will be my first night starting to hit some of the places that you all have suggested.

Thanks and peace~! Brian

P.S. We saved a child and their family in an overturned boat last night. God, How much I love the Coast Guard. For me it helps balance out all of the bad things that we hear every day coming from over seas. I know that it may seem strange to have someone who is active duty military on the site. But it is great being part of a mission that is focused on saving people when you find them. Again, peace~!

If you are still here and haven't yet gone there I suggest you go to Joe's Stone Crab in South Beach. Expensive and hard to get in but fantastic. If you like seafood get the Stone Crabs,Hash Browns,Creamed Spinach and finish it off with a slice of Key Lime Pie. Right across form Joe's is Joe's Takeout where you can get all the same great food and you can eat it on the beach or one of the tables in there. Stone Crabs are very expensive but certainly one of the great delcacies you can fine in these parts. Either way I hope you enjoyed your stay here so far.

I second that. Joe's Stone Crabs is fantastic. When I worked on MB, many moons ago, we used to go for lunch, but not very often. It used to be easier to get in for lunch. Something you don't want to miss, but expensive.

Saw Tinsley here a while ago, and he will be back on April 11th, if you are still in the area:

And for you other South Florida folks, go support the man or Reneed will kick your butts (after she grabs his).

This place is about 6 or 7 miles from my home in West Delray Beach and I didn't know it existed. Thanks for posting the link. I am a big Tinsley Ellis fan and when he is scheduled
to perform, I'm out of town. I'll have to keep up with this club now.

the owner had another club in the area, and bought this location. It's a very small place, I believe the cover charge was $10 that night. Tinsley was playing the Ft, Lauderdale Blues festival the next night. It's very small and Tinsley rocked us that night...
