Hi everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster. There is a new amphitheatre going up near Alpharetta. It's Verizon Wireless. Would you rather see the Allman Brothers Band there, or Lakewood?

Best regards,

SusanBeth

Welcome SusanBeth! I'd be willing to see ABB in the new VW Amphitheater. Been to Lakewood many times for many concerts. As long as it's the Brothers, I'm game.

None of the above. Fox Theatre! Ok, Verizon would be my choice of the 2 because it's closer. I'm just glad Piedmont Park is closed to big events this year!

Hey there sweet family,

Welcome, SusanBeth! I usually miss the ATL show (because we're either getting ready for or recovering from the Raleigh show ;-) ) . I don't think, as lovely as it would be, that the Fox is going to happen, but I'm curious what y'all have to say about the amphitheatre options too.

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

I think that Alpharetta and Atlanta should be treated as two distinct markets, and the ABB should play both! Not completely unserious, the ABB does tend to zig-zag through the South, so perhaps hit one amph. one time and the other later in the summer. A lot of acts have treated the arenas in Duluth and Atlanta as two markets, and come back through town to play the other venue (e.g., Van Halen, Aerosmith, The Who, etc.). Not sure how well those acts draw at both venues though.

I'd love to see them at the new one...but I'm praying for a multi night Fox run.

Allright at least I had my say on the Fox but if that's out, perhaps a multi-night run at Verizon? Like 2, realistically. The 8-06 Lakewood show did not sell out and free tix were given away to filll the place. Nevertheless, I think it'll work here because Lakewood has 7k permanent and 11k lawn whereas Verizon is 7k and 5k lawn. So it would be relatively easy to sell two nights of all permanent seats and most of the lawn. The suburban demographics must look great and the new factor should spike demand this summer. The Eagles just sold out 3 May nights in just a few hours.

It was surprising to see on the Eagles sale that even though there were 4 tiers of locations (pit, orch, rear reserved, lawn), there were just 2 prices, reserved and lawn. It may have been marketing because it appeared the best tix were "only" $185(lawn $65). Stepped pricing would be better. The pit may be a true orchestra pit and non-seating, but I can't tell from the still under construction website and the woefully inadequate seating chart that now exists.

Worse, 2 more shows were added later the morning that the first show, scheduled on a Wed, went on sale. Fri was added and sold, and then the same for Sat. I was not a buyer, but know how I would have felt if I'd bought a Wed lawn and then a weekend show went on sale. Not nice; estimate demand and offer all shows at the same time.
I hope these things are corrected for Petty/Winwood tix when they go on sale.

In case Chastain is being considered, please don't. Lakewood is still fine if that's what is decided.

Let's break in the new ampitheater!!!! would love to see a two nighter there too!!! or a Co-bill early in the summer at Lakewood, and "An Evening with ABB and Friends" near the end of the run at the new one?!?!?! c'mon give the ATL a double dose - we can handle it!!!!

Lakewood just hasn't been selling like it used to. I have highly enjoyed all the ABB shows I've seen there over the years, and many others. i've never had a terrible experience at this venue, down in the seats or rockin w/ the plebians on the lawn (or even just outside the fence, in the shade w/ a cooler in Piedmont Park last year

bring it on home Brothers Allman, bring it on home...

I agree with Rottinpeach

But, in reality, I'll vote for the new Verizon Wireless amphitheatre. Lakewood is just awful.

Hey there sweet family,

Trust your sister, this is not a Fox year. But the question about the other venues is a good one. Nice job, SusanBeth! :-)

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

Most folks around here know how I feel about Lakewood... it's a DUMP!

The Brothers at Verizon gets my vote and it's only 30 minutes away via the backroads!

Who do we use persuasive force on to get a Fox run?... an annual Fox run??

We will take them anyway, anywhere we can....................
I have always wanted to do all three Charlotte, Raleigh, and Atlanta leg of their tour.

As much as I like the new Verizon facilities, seems some of their officials are truth-challenged. This article was published today in response to a rumor of a 4th Eagles show yesterday. Now Verizon's site is showing a 4th show to go on sale next week!

Three shows will have to be enough for Eagles fans
By MARCUS K. GARNER
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 02/06/2008

Ignore the rumors and speculation: The Eagles will not add a fourth show when they visit Alpharetta's Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in May, officials say.

Overwhelming demand to see the Eagles in concert in May spurred a rush for tickets that caused promoters to add two extra dates.

But three Eagles shows will have to be enough for area fans, said Holly Clausen, spokeswoman for venue sponsor, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

"We have no plans to add any more dates," she said.

Local radio personalities earlier said that a fourth show would be announced.

I'd love to see The Eagles in concert. I just don't want to mortgage the house to do it.

Good point. They are expensive, and just a little too packaged for me, that's all. I like to listen to them on the radio or CD, but in concert I like music that stretches. But if I had money to spare I'd get you there BigDaveOnBass.
