There are so many times when I lose my perspective and want to "make things right", as in right this wrong that has been done, respond to some act in a way that "teaches somebody a lesson", point out where others are flawed or mistaken, or just think somebody else is acting like a jerk and needs to put them in their place. Then I can justify my actions based on the actions of another, instead of doing whay my instructional manual tells me to do, and then claim that I am only human, after all. I have come to realize that anytime I think, feel, or act that way, I am wrong. Everything I do is supposed to be based in love. My job is to follow my instruction manual and leave the outcome up to God, no matter what anybody else is doing. I find myself so often thinking that if I do what God instructs me to do in certain situations, it will cost me something, usually in terms of pride. I don't want to turn the other cheek, or go the extra mile, or give you my coat also. I don't trust that God knows what he is doing and has everything under control. Which makes me not only a hypocrite, but an idiot. Maybe this should be in another thread. Just got to keep on growing.

some nationally syndicated pastor or Christian author said once, " Being a Christian would be easy if it wasn't for the people we had to deal with".

I think it was Paul or Timothy that said, " if you had to avoid wrong and evil, you'd have to leave this world" or something to that effect. I'll have to find the actual quote.

Yet, I agree with you, almost word for word.

It just ain't easy.

The Wall

(Kerry Livgren/Steve Walsh)
I'm woven in a fantasy, I can't believe the things I see
The path that I have chosen now has led me to a wall
And with each passing day I feel a little more like something dear was lost
It rises now before me, a dark and silent barrier between
All I am and all that I would ever want to be
It's just a travesty, towering, marking off the boundaries my spirit would
erase
To pass beyond is what I seek, I fear that I may be too weak
And those are few who've seen it through to glimplse the other side
The promised land is waiting like a maiden that is soon to be a bride
The moment is a masterpiece, the weight of indecision's in the air
It's standing there, the symbol and the sum of all that's me
It's just a travesty, towering, blocking out the light and blinding me
I want to see
Gold and diamonds cast a spell, it's not for me to know it well
The treasures that I seek are waiting on the other side
THere's more that I can measure in the treasure of the love that I can find
And though it's always been with me
I must teard down the wall let it be
All I am, and all that I was ever meant to be, in harmony
Shining true and smiling back at all who wait to cross
There is no loss ...........

My Grandmother used to say God tests you and won't give you more than you
can bear. Doug I have always enjoyed your spiritual posts. This is a very nice thread.

MaconPeach posted one of my Grandmother's favorites:

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Matthew 11: 25 - 30

We used the New King James version:
"Come Ye who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest." I am repeating
that from memory. My Grandmother used to quote the bible, especially Psalms.

Very nice place y'all got here.

One thing I've become aware of that I think is so cool and uplifitng: God created each one of us, individually, just as we are, special and unique, with a specific job in mind for us to do, laid out before the beginning of time, that only we can do. Our purpose is to surrender ourselves to God, all of us, both good and bad, so that he can use us to accomplish this special task. He has a special name for us that captures everything we could hope to be and all that he created us to be. All our life is a molding process that he uses to make us more and more like what he created us to be. It will come in his time and in his way; we just have to stand firm in our faith and trust so that we can do what he has set out for us to do. Then when we see him he will say to us,"Well done, my good and faithful servant."

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. - Eph. 2:10

I saw a couple of posts in Bobo's old thread from Photoron and Sang, two guys hwas particularly close with that would have some really funny exchanges, and felt a sharp twang of loss and sadness. Then this:

"In my Father's house theres are many rooms. I go there to prepare a place for you, so that where I am you may be also. If it were not so, i would have told you."

I would love to put a few thousand miles and fourteen years between me and my ex.

no kiddin', I sure would.

but y'know what? It wouldn't matter. I could be ten thousand miles away and thirty years away but what is in your heart is with you regardless of time or distance.
I had some anger and animosity and bitterness and an unforgiving heart for her for a while but have since forgiven her (not all her fault) and have rid myself of all anger and stuff.
I don't know what her story is with our God, that's between her and him but I can only get myself right with him in order to be what he wants me to be. Everything after that is under his control and for that, I trust and thank him.

"You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgement.' But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgement. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca' (empty head) is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says 'You fool!" will be in danger of the fire of hell."
"Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother, then come and offer your gift."

Geeze, Doug, are you trying to make me feel bad?

Not at all Otie. Just hoping maybe we can spare some others from the same seperations by following the instruction manual. Now, if i was to mention the Jets.........that's a different story.

The comfort and peace that I get from reading the Bible, not to mention wisdom and the power of discernment, is really beginning to take hold of me and providing me with some real hope and promise. It's almost as if I can FEEL it moving me in a positive direction. I think the key is having a willing heart. Tapping into the power of God is quite the experience.

And the thunder's all I hear
You speak softly to my soul...............
