Yahoooooo!!!!!!!!!!! They are one of my favorite bands of all time but they haven't been anywhere close to Nashville since the early 80's when I was a poor high school kid who couldn't afford too many shows. But I'm there in '08! I'm so there!

I believe Pete Way has not been allowed in the states for quite some time (drug issues from wayback). I wonder if that has been cleared up, or if anouther bass player is taking his place (as Barry Sparks has done in the past).

Thanks for posting this. I've only seen them once, way back in the 70's, when the original lineup opened for Steppenwolf, believe it or not, at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion. I recently picked up "Strangers in The Night", their excellent live record, and I see it's all the same guys on this tour except for Vinnie Moore taking Schenker's place on guitar. Isn't Moore a hot player? I've heard of him. How long has he been in UFO? What other bands has he been in?

Here I go again..LOL Here Ya go Bro Slob

Vinnie Moore (April 14, 1964, New Castle, Delaware) is a guitarist and a member of the British hard rock band UFO. Along with Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony MacAlpine, and others, Moore is known as one of the most influential guitarists to emerge out of the shredder boom in the mid 1980s. Moore has endorsed numerous guitar companies over the years, his most well known being Music Man guitars. In 2007 Moore left Music Man and began endorsing Dean guitars. He also has an endorsement contract with Engl amplification.

Moore began his professional career at age of 12 and played clubs and bars until Shrapnel executive Mike Varney discovered him through a magazine article. His connection to Varney led to an opportunity to appear in a Pepsi commercial in 1985, (only Vinnie's hands appeared in the commercial as his guitar playing is heard. Following this Moore recorded his first solo album, Mind's Eye, released on Shrapnel Records and featured Tony MacAlpine on keyboards. The album received several awards from guitar magazines and sold over 100,000 copies.

Vinnie Moore played lead guitar with the heavy metal band Vicious Rumors on their debut album, "Soldiers of the night". The album features Moore's solo-song, "Invader", which was in the style of Van Halen's "Eruption". The shred guitar craze of the late eighties led to more releases for Shrapnel. Moore also began performing with other hard rock bands. He joined Alice Cooper's band for a tour and then appeared in Hey Stoopid album, Following this Moore released two instructional videos on guitar playing. Along with guitarists, Al Di Meola and Allan Holdsworth, Vinnie Moore still continues to record for Shrapnel Records.

Solo Albums

* Mind's Eye (1986)
* Time Odyssey (1988)
* Meltdown (1991)
* Out of Nowhere (1996)
* The Maze (1999)
* Live! (2000)
* Defying Gravity (2001)
* Vinnie Moore Collection: The Shrapnel Years (2006)

Appears on:
* 1985 - Vicious Rumors - Soldiers Of The Night
* 1989 - Guitar's Practicing Musicians - Free
* 1991 - Alice Cooper - Hey Stoopid (with, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Slash)
* 1994 - Various Artists - Deep Purple Tribute: Smoke On The Water
* 1998 - Sega - "Burning Rangers" Game soundtrack for the 'Saturn' video game
* 2004 - "UFO (band)" - You Are Here
* 2004 - Jordan Rudess - Rhythm of Time
* 2005 - Various Artists - Subdivisions: A Tribute to the Music of Rush
* 2005 - "UFO (band)" - "Showtime" - A double-live DVD and music CD release recorded earlier on in the year
* 2006 - "UFO (band)" - Monkey Puzzle

He's done a good job replacing Schenker. May not see Schenker with UFO again...who knows ?

"You are Here" and "Monkey Puzzle" are both good, he's not a Schenker clone...so he's got a different sound.

You need to see them, Phil Mogg can still bark out some damn good vocals. I have seen them 5 times...but none since the 70's and 80's. Last Time I saw them, Paul Chapman was on Guitar. Saw them with Schenker front row at a small venue in the early 70's.

Yes it is, I caught them on that Tour run, I hope you got the CD with the xtra 2 or 3 song...you probably did...it's been out a few years now.

These are also good.

This one is out of print now, I have it though. Maybe find it on e-bay.

The Review is by someone else:
First of all I like to start by pointing this out,It's the last four songs where Schenker & Chapman share the lead not the first 4 like it was mentioned on 1 review,this is the best way I can put it If you are a Schenker fan you'll like the 4 songs mostly,If you're a Chapman fan you'll like the whole disc even if he cuts LIGHTS OUT in half,there's no second solo,the first 8 songs are from NO PLACE TO RUN tour 1980 and the other 4 are from 1974,I feel I should mention this for any UFO fan there's a CD called ( The archives Series BBC UFO In Session and Live in concert) these are recorded versions that were replaced by the ones that were on the albums and these ones were never released these are the songs in order all Schenker with UFO
In session with Bob Harris 10/28/74 (Chapman sharing guitar songs7,8,9,10 only)
1.Rock Bottom
2.Time on my hands
3Give her the gun
In Session with John Peel 6/27/74
4Too hot to Handle
5.Lights out
6.Try Me
Live at the Hippodrome recorded 6/6/74
7.Oh My
8.Built for Comfort
9.Space Child
10.Doctor Doctor
Live at the Paris Theatre recorded 12/11/75
11.Let it roll
12.Mother Mary
13.Out In The Street(Phil Mogg on Acoustic guitar debut very rare)
14Shoot Shoot.
I thought I should let you in on this info.This is one of my most precious CD'S.Amazon might have it!Note;I give 4 stars to(Live in Concert UFO) made a mistake rating it and couldn't change it back!

Damn this one is out of print also, I have it too.

Collection of the British hard rock outfit's recordings for the Beeb in 1974, 1975 and 1977. 14 cuts, all digitally remastered & including 'Rock Bottom', 'Too Hot To Handles', 'Lights Out', 'Doctor Doctor' and 'Shoot Shoot'. 1999 release.

Vinnie Moore got lumped in with the shredders in the 80s and he can definitely play that style but there is much more to his playing than that.

Mind's Eye (1986)
Varney had him play in the shredder style because that was what his label did. But because they all recorded in the same place and on the same equipment it often sounded very similar. One exception is that Vinnie's picking is immpeccable.

Time Odyssey (1988)
Vinnie showed many different sides to his playing. Sure there are plenty of fast leads but Vinnie shows his DiMeola influence on this one. One of my favorite "guitar" albums from that era. Borders between metal/prog and the songs/playing is really interesting. Also features Jordan Rudess on keyboards. He would later join Dream Theater and is still with the band.

Vinnie has been a great fit with UFO as he brings his own style and can play the others well also.

Someone direct these guys to the border please.

I was fortunate to see UFO "reunion" tour in '94 or '95 (can't remember the exact year) with Schenker. That was definitely a concert high light for me; he's always been my favorite guitarist.
I may try to get to Chicago in April; I sure am glad Andy Parker is back.

On their official web site it says that if you see any dates posted for 2008 that they are not official until you see them posted on their site but I noticed ticketmaster already has a few shows that they are selling tickets for? I wish it was tomorrow, March is going to never get here!

I checked ticketmaster tonight to see if they set a date when tickets go on sale and they had taken the Nashville gig and several others off! There are only 7 dates listed on ticketmaster.
