Once in a while, after the Beacon show, I join several fans for the obligatory "Exit of the band." Warren always seems to be friendly with everyone, signing autographs, etc. A genuinely nice guy in all respects.

Marc speeds away in his Mercedes (?) without much fanfare or notice. Seems like a nice guy though.

Derek comes out with his guitar on his back and talks to a few people, and seems to always get the attention of the young girls who obviously have a crush on him (by far the ABB's cutest and most adorable member! He reminds me of Beatle Paul !!) Seems shy but someone who does like his fans, which are many.

Gregg signs several autographs but only one row of fans and if you stand in the wrong line you'll never get to see his face. I always stand in the wrong line, time and time again.
Maybe this run I'll get my long awaited autograph, but Murphy's law always is against me.

But what about the drummers? Jaimoe never seems to acknowledge anyone, just seems to walk thru the crowds and doesn't bother to stop and chat. I don't even recall Butch coming out the door, seems like he waits till everyone is gone. Anyone get a chance to hang out with Butch at the back of the Beacon?

(I admit I don't really recall Oteil Burbridge's exit. He talks to a few, and then takes off I think, anyone know for sure?)

I ran into both Butch and Oteil at the hotel of a casino show several years back. Both were nice and patient with a starstruck dumbass like me!

Rode the elevator with Otiel several times at the Milburn this year, walked to the gig with him one night. A nicer man you will not meet. He also brought the Peacemakers here for the Family Bands jam Lefty set up last year. Pure class.

Randy ^ (Bupp-1), Donna and I saw Derek walking on the street last year. He was very polite, waving and noticing that we noticed him.

On the way up to the Beacon around 65 or 66 street there was a Middle Eastern import shop with artwork, statues. I walked around for an hour thinking Derek would be in there.

When Oteil and The Peacemakers played at Blue Horse Music Hall in Augusta in September '06, there was a sparse turn out. Oteil remembered me from WaneeFest '05 and '06, so I got to hang a little bit with him post show. It was funny. Here we both were, him rolling up pants legs and me opening my shirt to compare motorcycle crash scars, in front of a small crowd of onlookers... I met Derek at the Jam For a Cure party, but Oteil is really the only one I have ever really met or had a chance to shoot the breeze with.

Seems to me someone once posted they saw Jaimoe on the street near the Fox and was very accomodating to the fan(s). I saw him also but just left him alone.

Just remember that while most of the time they do talk and sign sometimes something may just be bothering them and they'd rather not. Don't take it personally.

I just hate to bother them. I know that after the show they are trying to wind down. And they just want to relax, so I keep my distance.

I will say that Jaimoe, Derek, and Oteil are sweethearts!

I just LOVE when your favorite musicians turn out to be the nicest people. It extends the level of sincerity in their music for me a millionfold. I got to meet Derek, Susan and Oteil at the HTN party last year, and boy, what a sweet buncha folks. Oteil in particular...totally down to earth.

My favorite band, Dramarama, is the same way. Lead singer/songwriter John Easdale is just the most humble, nicest guy you could ever hope to meet. I just love him.

And in the up-and-coming category, my new favorite female artist, Nicole Atkins, is also very sweet, dispensing hugs at every show and always being sure to say hello and mingle with the crowd before and after her set. And you know as well as I do, a rising star can be just as full of him/herself as a superstar!!

Dramarama, Laura? No kidding?

I bought their CD "Vinyl" years back because my hero Mick Taylor is on it. I think it is a GREAT album, one of those hidden gems, but I have never met anyone else who had even heard of that band. Cool.

Jaimoe tends to hang outside the Beacon before the show and is quite cordial, open and friendly to all.
However, I did go up to say hello to him last year in the theater before the show so my stepson could get his autograph (he was saying hey to a bunch of fans) and I mentioned I'd written the forward to No Saints No Saviors; I'd ask if he read it and/or liked it at all - he said it was a "children's book". Ouch.
Sorry I asked.

True
I was waiting with a small group of friends outside the Beacon (this year?) And Jaimoe just walked out and started talking to us.

On another occasion I saw him leave the back stage door, walk across the street to sign autographs before getting in his car Oh, and it was raining..LOL
Really cool guy.

The only band member I have yet to meet Gregg ( maybe Mitzi can hook me up with that )

Dude, if only more people knew. They really are my favorite band, hands down. Join us in our Dramaramaraland Yahoo! Group, why don't you? PM me and we'll chat.

I had never heard of them before I seen them on VH1's Bands Reunited. I love that song "anything, anything, anything"! I have a disc I downloaded by them kind of a greatest hits deal. I like it, I like it alot.

If you like it that much, then I URGE you to get Vinyl, the disc Jim mentioned above. Another excellent CD of theirs is their very first one, Cinema Verite, the disc that "Anything, Anything" came from. It also contains my theme song, "Some Crazy Dame," and a whole bunch of other good shlt. Get 'em both on Amazon for next to nothing, or try eBay.

@ JFC this year I was talking to Oteil about his show that was broadcast over the web in the Carolina's(cannot remember which one). I told him he was great and that the show rocked. He said but it came on at 11pm, I said did not bother me. Oteil said what about work the next day, don't you work. I said nothing a good cup of coffee cannot fix. I told him the kids and wife were asleep and I was rocking out watching the show. He laughed ear to ear slapped by back and said your alright. Kind of cool.

Hysterical, Barry. Found that to be the case too. I think the 'parallel to the street' line is best for Gregg. Maybe PeterNelson can give us some metrics around the probability, but that's my personal take. He'll go down the line and hop into the van.

Quiniones is definitely the tough one. Him and Butch seem to be the high fruits of ABB autographs.
