I want to keep the spirit and vibe of the past River Road Compound and Campfire Jams alive as much as possible. The size of the Jam production will hinge largely on my dialog with park authorities. If they can't promise me a reasonable cut off time for the Campfire Jams, well, I'm not going bring my PA all the way from GA if we can't play for 3, 4 or 5 hours. Not trying to be a drag about it, but last years Friday night jam had some of the best musicians ever show up to play, only to be cut off at 2AM. (Thursday's jam was great, don't get me wrong. It was VERY happening. Since there were no scheduled performances, we were able to start earlier.) When you don't start the Friday jam until the ABB set is over, that doesn't even equate to two hours of Jam time. We may just have to consider having the Jam on Thursday night and start around 6, 7 or 8PM and go until they say stop. The Friday jam with Pedro was about to really take off when they shut us down. I don't want to experience that kind of disappointment again, if I don't have to. Everybody keep their fingers crossed that I'll be able to work something out with the powers that be at S.O.S.M.P. so we can have a longer Friday night jam, even if it means not having a Saturday night jam, which worked out anyway with the dTb midnight jam and the subsequent torrential downpour.

I think the problem is that this jam is electric and your location is very prominent. I have always been to campfire jams that last til dawn back in the primitive camping areas behind the smaller stage. I never camp out there cause those peeps don't sleep and I really need some beauty sleep. You should try to rent the Treehouse back in the corner of the Mainstage. I have a myspace friend that rented it for Springfest last year and it was jamming after the music was over. Ask Warjag, he was there.

Hey Guys, Angela here.

Just got back from About 6 weeks of music and traveling so if I haven't been following all the details and goings on, I'm sorry. All I can say is I am thrilled Warren is doing some solo shows and the Belly-Up show was the very best I've ever seen and you can get it on the Mule Tracks. So I'm happy, though I have a bad cold from all the sharing of joints that I did at the Central Park show. I think I can't do that anymore cause I always get a bad cold after I do.

Anyway, I reserved 2 spots a few months ago. I really didn't know what spots were which from last year because I don't remember numbers well and I had a map to refer to but it looked different from what I had remembered so I just choose any two side by side spots (one for me and one for Sue).

I will say only one thing, I don't mind moving the spots with someone but this is a must. I bought a camp site so I can have a parking spot and set up a small tent so I can change and MAYBE my friend Debbie (from last year) and her 2 daughters may set up a real tent. I personally don't camp any more. I will have a room at the Holiday Inn as I usually do. I want to be able to come and go as I please and need a car spot that is not blocked by anyone or anything so I can come and go unencumbered. I would in fact have liked it closer to the entrance to the music field but I couldn't figure out what was up with the map. So if I am trading a spot with anyone please make sure it is up front with quick road access and closer to the MAIN entrance not further away. And I would like to be next to Sue as well.

So basically Sue and I have the 2 spots. I have nothing to do with any of the music but I am SURE that Lefty, Big Dave, Alec, Blue Dad, and all the guys can come up with something that is mutually appealing and positive for and to everyone. I haven't really spoken with Sue about her needs but she has the other spot and she and I would like to be near each other.

Again, I am sure we can all get together on this so everyone is happy.

Angela

I'm ready for a Suwannee River mineral "Rootbeer" Bath!
Last year Scott got a dip in the Suwannee & loved it!
I would've gotten in all the way(past my rear) if it wasn't for a "certain someone" who was bitching about getting into the River !

Mikey AND his Dad!

truth be told, i didnt really get that wet till one of the fellas from our camping area took me down there swimming.... I'll never forget Jesse, Mac, Armin and Lane coming back all wet from swimming and me going "Dammit i wanted to go!" - at which time Mac pushes Lane toward me and says "He'll take you!". Its safe to say that we got to talking long enough that day enroute to the river to want to stay in contact after Wanee, and once i moved down here, we've been pretty much attached at the hip

The RiverRoad Compound is the 'Hayseeds" gig.
All appreciation go to Big Dave and BlueDad for getting this up and rolling.
At least that's how I see it.

Brent, thanks for the support. The River Road Compound is the people who make it up, and we've been blessed with some really good folks the last three years. The Campfire Jams are the people who come, bring guitars, amps and drums, and PA. I have facilitated the PA and bass rig for all three Campfire Jams, to date. I don't mind doing it. What I do mind is being shut down just as we are hitting stride. I said after last years fiasco that I wouldn't bring my gear back up if we couldn't have a proper campfire jam, like we did on Friday night in 2006. We played 'til the roosters crowed. I gave out at 5:30AM, others were still playing at 8AM. Regardless of the scale of The Campfire Jams in 2008, I'm going to be with my people...my famABBly. I'm particularly looking forward to being with my Hayseed brothers. Y'all know who you are. If we sit in a circle with acoustics and play to each other, I'll be happy with that. It's the love I feel when I'm in The River Road Compound. Campfire Jam or not, I'll be home.
