I caught Mofro, Ratdog & the Allmans and the Black Crowes in one week. I know Mofro opened a few Allman shows, but I saw them alone in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. They are a decent band with soulful music. I was wondering what people thought who might have seen them as the opening act.

I was extremely impressed with Ratdog (at PNC in NJ). Iíve seen them before but the band never sounded so tight. Iíve also never seen so many people in such a good mood. I think they stole the show from the Allmans, but both bands sounded incredible that night.

And the Black Crowes (in Boca Raton, FL), despite being very skeptical, especially with Marc Ford not in the band anymore, they sounded amazing. Whoever has filled in on keys sounds great, and Paul Stacey can hold his own on guitar. The sound at Mizner Park was perfect, Chrisí voice sounded very good, and they jammed out every song. The Crowes covered everything: rock, blues, psychedelic, county, jazz. I really could not ask for anything more out of a rock & roll band. I heard Jimmy Herring sat in the next night in Atlanta.

Iím gonna try and catch Kings of Leon in a couple of months. Never seen them before, but their latest album is one of the better contemporary rock albums Iíve heard in a while.

Over eleven days I saw:

ABB/Ratdog twice

DB & GS/Outlaws twice

POCO, Pure Prairie League, Firefall twice

The only shows I had to buy tickets for were the two ABB.

ABB Pittsburgh was the only show I didn't take at least one of my sons to.

I blame Benjamin.

I caught three Allman Brothers shows and a blues festival with Dickey Betts and Great Southern headlining. The first allman brothers show had Mofro and DBT. I really enjoyed Mofro. I agree, soulful and a good band. I'd go see them again. Unfortunately I missed part of their set (including a part with Derek) because the time on the website was wrong, but I did enjoy them. To be honest though, it wasn't too much in a week of 2 rat dog, 3 abb, and a dickey show...oh yeah and keller williams.
