I remember when I was young that they were busted at a hotel in Peoria or East Peoria Illinois for drugs. Who would have thought that a band with that name would do drugs? I was shocked.

It's hard to get excited about this while being all heated up about the news of a possible Spice Girls reunion....

Ed must be really scrambling for something to do these days. I seen him play with Deep South a coupe of summers ago and he quit them after a few of shows. He then was doing a Skynyrd cover band called The Sat. Night Special Band with Artimus Pyle but that soon fizzeled out as well. I wouldn't think there would be a big demand for a SAC reunion.

I didn't realize this was for real:

SPICE GIRLS REUNION DUE
By CHRISTINE FIELD
PrintEmailDigg ItStory Bottom

February 18, 2007 -- Six years after they split up, Britain's most famous all-female band, the Spice Girls, is ready to reunite onstage.

But the girl-power reunion will happen on one condition - a multimillion-dollar price tag.

And it will have to wait until after the birth of Emma "Baby Spice" Bunton's first baby this summer.

The British newspaper The Daily Mail reports that the September or October reunion - rumors of which have been swirling about since 2005's "Live 8" concert - will be followed by a national tour.

The fantastic five will also walk away with a hefty appearance fee. Manager Simon Fuller is said to be demanding a $5 million fee per Spice Girl for the broadcast rights to the concert and tour, according to the paper.

The Artimus Pyle Band is playing at the Sussex County (NJ) Fair on Aug 10th along with the Outlaws and Dangerous Dan Toler and his band...its billed as a southern rock festival ...should be quite the flash back to 1974-1977!!!!!!!!!

Good that you mention Ed King's main significance in "southern rock", an early and key member of Lynyrd Skynyrd. He wasn't really an original member, but was on bass briefly and soon became the 3rd guitarist. Ed was a really good player with LS but quit in 1975 due to drug problems. I see some parallels between the situation of Ed King and Artemus Pyle with the current Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Dickie Betts with the current ABB.

I was under the impression that Ed King left LS in 1975 because of the "extensive touring" that the band was doing was to much for him. I think the tour was known as the "Touture Tour" as LS almost never came off the road (except to quickly record) back in those days.
