A few weeks ago I got to meet and interview Warren Haynes from Gov't Mule and the Allman Brothers Band. This article is the result. I hope I managed to get some stuff that is new to you all. It was a little rushed and my first interview but thought you all may be interested. I recall at time thinking "I'm in an 8x10ft room with Warren Haynes!!! This is insane!!!!"

Thanks for posting your interview. You covered all the questions I would've asked him myself. Very insightful interview. Amazing how down to earth he is. Those of us who have followed the various projects he has taken on have indeed been very lucky. Not to mention how gracious he is when you meet him personally.

So much loss and negativity recently. We're lucky to have someone like him around to shine a positive light on our world.

Thanks for the kind words. I was made up that Jambase.com took a few quotes for a news article and that the Warren Haynes website reprinted the whole interview. The latter even left in the dedication at the end which was touching, and means a lot to us all.

Normally I'm a **** about interviews. I tend to think they are all lame. So when I tell you I think you did a helluva job.....I loved it. You presented Warren at his best

It's too bad another studio album did not get released from the band.

Fender31, I wish they would address that by carefully going through the live recordings from the last few years of this line up, specifically choosing songs they played live that had not been on officially released albums.

I'm talking about things like "Egypt" or "Orfeo" or "Spots of Time" as well as covers like "Blind Willie McTell." Pick the very best versions, and deliver a live album that is not merely greatest hits from previous lineups.

That would be a solid way to salute the final 14 years.

Yeah Fender31, JimSheridan, The fact that they we halfway through putting it together is a real shame. He didn't give the impression that any of it had been recorded though. It was nice that he mentioned that he was real proud of Hittin' the Note though.

What I left out though was that Springsteen was quite eager to get together with Warren again but they hadn't managed to make it happen.
"I wound up on stage playing together with Springsteen and he has invited me to come and join him whenever our paths crossed. But so far that's the only time it's happened."

Interesting . What event was that, the Pete Seeger thing?

I love this idea! The recording quality would have to be extraordinary in order to differentiate it from any of the Instant Live releases, I would think, because pretty much all of those tunes are out there and available already.

Outside the diehards like us, how broad of an appeal could this approach have?

Yeah, the Pete Seeger thing. I bet Warren got to tick a lot off his list that day.
