Gregg also left a show in Japan in the 90s and Warren sang his songs.

But kdick (hey Ken) makes a good point. He sat out a song. Big deal.

On the leadership issue, Gregg has never wanted it over the years and never will. I agree with Rob on that. Gregg is a constant and it bears his name but Butch and Jaimoe are also constants. Butch has stepped forward trying to assume the leadership role, we can (and have) debated the results of that endlessly. Warren stepped up to the role musically ever since rejoining. It is also a big part of why they needed and wanted him back. Without him rejoining, at this stage we would likely be talking about the good old days when the ABB played shows. Too much Warren in the ABB? Would you prefer them to call it quits?

What I don't get is why some people who were not there, obviously won't be buying a copy of the show and judge by a video shot on a phone give a crap what they played and with who? Some sound almost personally insulted by it. News flash - you weren't there so why does it matter?

Just checked out the video. Elaine Benes called....she wants her dance moves back.
I'm all for dancing like nobody's watching....not so much for dancing because people are watching.

Nobody can see me dancing because I close my eyes.....

To each his/her own.

Classic!

Yeah well, I'm still not getting it in any other way than a not good read. Care to explain? I would love further clarification. Just didn't get the comment. And even now when not sleep deprived, I still don't get it.

Wow, Grace Potter screwed you by not going to a club to see you? Wow. Whatever.

I wouldn't walk across the street to see her. Screwed me over too many times not showing up at clubs. She likes the sit ins on bigger stages tho!

reading is fundamental.

it is an insult to fans (Lee) for the Performer (Grace) to not show up for a Gig. (Club)

It must have been a great enjoyable show to be there for. Grace is a great singer. Must have been nice to hear her sing with the band. People who complain always will. Same as it ever was. Things change. Same as it ever was. Gotta be flexible and take the good. Leave the cr*p on the cutting room floor. You'll be happier.

I read it as Lee bought a ticket on more than one occasion to see her and she didn't show up on more than one occasion, and now he'd never pay money to see her again.

At least, that's how I read it...

People do have the right to like or not like things. I heard a bunch of Grace Potter songs on the archive well before I ever saw what she looked or acted like on stage. Didn't like her then and don't like her now. It's just an opinion.

Wow, were talking the first song in 43 years that Gregg was not on stage for! I was there right up front ans as seen in some of the video I can attest that all the original members at one point or another through the tune were on the stage - watching and enjoying the music. Kinda like watching your kids after you have taught them how to do something. I agree there is no ABB without Gregg, but he was there took one tune off and Southern Man is a killer tune that was covered flawlessly. Regardless of what anyone thinks, this band has done and will continue to do whatever it wants without any of us approving or disapproving.
Hey Ken must be that northern air but you struck a chord with me on the last line. They will do whatever they want while we endlessly debate band members, direction etc. The best part is that I love what they are doing. We are lucky that they and not we are making the decisions. I expect some reporting from Wanee.

BigV has a great point in calling Gregg "the constant." I can totally get behind that.

I guess to me the ABB have always been about the guitarists, from Duane and Dickey to Derek and Warren. But that's just me, and I totally realize that to many people, Gregg is the reason they go to see The Allman Brothers.

Thanks Rob and I agree with your point about the guitarists. We part company on the size of the roll Warren has taken on. It is too much Mr Haynes for me....

Equal time to Derek and his influences and friends... Let's see Mike Mattison and Kofi out there and bring in some of Derek's 'dtb' material into the mix... Just gimme a break with the Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and now..... Fleetwood Mac stuff....

I can see why those not enamoured with Warren would not like the current set up. I happen to love Warren (As you can tell from the photo below) so the more Warren the merrier.

It's really not important but Jaimoe is not a constant.

Aside from the period where he was screwed over which is long in the past. I would hope there are no plans to screw him again.
