Texas Bigfoot Research Conservancy.
I was just wondering if anyone on this sight was familiar with this Website.
Squatch is the nickname for Sasquatch. Maybe some members from Texas
know about this site. They are having a big conference in
October. Does anybody here really believe in Bigfoot? Just wondering.

Of course Bigfoot is real. Too many sober responsible citizens have reported sighting going back for centuries.
And it is a part of Native American Folklore. Some believe it is a Spirit.

No one believed in Gorillas until one was captured and brought out of Africa in the 1930s.

Well Texas, must be a big place for Bigfoot or Squatch(As they call him) sightings, if they have
a big conference in October.
I wonder how many people actually attend.
And do they all dress up like Squatch?

This is not the first Bigfoot thread here at HTW. There are at least two not-yet-present-here members who are Bigfoot fans -- I would expect some input when they come around to seeing this thread, I would think.

Personally, I'm more of a "Little Hairy People" believer than Bigfoot -- though I grew up in the north where BF seemed quite popular, now live in the mountain-south, and maybe it's my age and wisdom (lmao), but the LHP scene impresses me as more likely "real".

While hiking I've come upon "dwellings" -- and didn't stay long -- that were like something out of a National Geographic article on New Guinea - except about 1/2 scale at most. Half! I could not fit in it; Yet it was not a bear cave (unless bears be usin' utensils and pots, etc.). I thought I was hallucinating ... was scared by it and moved quickly on up the trail. (was not on psychedelics that day)

BUT !! I still cannot quite grasp why there is no "definitive" BF photo, or dead body. (I'm not speaking of LHP now because I kinda believe that they are part "spirit", or ethereal, at times.)

Point: it's 2010, cameras everywhere, (and guns, woohoo!) *where's the photo!?* or film. (but then there's that thing about the inability to shoot spirits - gun or camera) .... it's a head-scratcher.

I'd certainly believe if they found real eveidence...bones, dried up poop...dwellings...hell we can prove there's was a T Rex millions of years ago....For me if BF really exists these would have been found already....

I'll believe in it when they find a body or someother physical evidence

Seriously no sh*t! Don't bring me a fuzzy picture or a plaster cast of a footprint. Bring me a giant steamer!!! One of the perk rangers in Washington where there have been a number of sightings said the same thing. He said he can go out into the woods and in a minute or two can show you bear, deer, raccoon, etc. scat (poop) but ... some creature 12 foot tall and no evidence of him taking a dump???

Anyway supposedly there have been a number of sightings of Bigfoot in West Virgina near the Dolly Sods park. Well ... I work with a gentleman from Elkins, WV who bears a striking resemblence to Bigfoot and Elkins is near Dolly Sods ... hmmm ... Just confirms what I've suspected if there is/were Sasquatches then they long been assimilated into society. Much like the Geiko Caveman on TV.

If sightings have gone back for centuries that means you might wanna look for Bigfoot in a retirement home. The elderly monster might need the proper assisted living in order to sustain his tired and weary carcass!

Based on the rudimentary typing skills evidenced above, we may have an actual Bigfoot sighting right here on HTW!!

Sorry Im late to this thread! LOL. Some interesting information:

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=bigfoot-anatomy

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6469070

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15548356/

Even Jane Goodall has stated she believes they exist. Whether they do or dont is a question that will ultimately be answered by science. Some folks have had their own experiences (I did as a 11-12 yr old kid with our scout troop and a number of adults. Much of what I remember from that time later became text book 'encounter' behavior/acts.) Ive spoken to people who claim to have had experiences and Ive met several of the 'superstars' of the field of research during a 3 month feature at our Institute of Texan Cultures where the question of whether they exist was a popular addition to the museum. Do I believe they exist? Im kind of on the fence...the science side of me thinks that its important to research the claims knowing that we dont yet have all the answers to our world. As long as experts in their fields can not reach conclusions, the mystery will be open for a solution. As for the TBRC, Ive met a number of individuals from there and they take it very seriously. East Texas, where a lot of their research takes place is a very formidable area. Swamps, endless forests and abundant water and wildlife are all present. The other side of me is very skeptical and constantly questions the stories and sightings Ive read. I have hope that with the ever increasing amount of technology in the field, that some answers will be found.

Show me the poop, or bones, fossils...etc....I want to believe there are species we haven't found but this is an animal that has been talked about for hundreds if not thousands of years but yet no physical evidence other than sightings....I don't know, maybe they have there own dung beetles or are really good at burying it....but no skeletal remains really bothers me

Interesting site SM. I read about the two sightings in Lawrence county Ohio and am very familiar with both areas, especially this one in particular. http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=10925

Lots of strange things go on in the hills. One time back when I was 17 I was driving my dad's truck with two friends around in the country.
I had stopped the truck on an old dirt road to get a hit .. and while taking a draw one of my buddies started screaming "take off, take off!"
I noticed something that looked red eyed out of the corner of my eye at the same time threw the truck down in 1st gear and pulled off very fast, all the while driving with my head down not looking where I was going. I about ran over a hillside, but the other companion had grabbed the steering wheel and kept us from wrecking.
After we reached town and I settled down I thought it might have been a cow on an embankment, but have never noticed their eye color at night when light reflects from it. I never gave it much thought till I read this about Crystal Lake.
Still I have doubts because there's not been enough proof to prove otherwise, at least to me.

Now, there was a guy back when we were at that same age, that along with others pulled a prank on a cab driver. He made a costume out of angel hair and they called a cab to a hollow that is spooky even in the middle of the day.
The guy who was dressed up shook the cab with the driver in it. The cab driver flew out of there and there was a big story in the paper till they discovered the angel hair on the cab.
It's a wonder he didn't get shot.
