Well, I wasn't talking about where the bands are from, just the basic sound of the music. |

Nice call, love that one. Rest of my list would be much different though.
BTW I always thought Little Feat was from the DC area, learn something new here everyday. ____________________ "Please don't confront me with my failures ... I'm aware of them" |

So, this raises a question.
If a southern city is mentioned, that makes it a southern rock song?
Imho, Little Feat is nowhere near being a "Southern rock" band. ____________________

First time I've ever seen George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers referred to as southern rock. This truly is a first. ____________________ "Capitalism is the extraordinary belief that the nastiest of men for the nastiest of motives will somehow work for the benefit of all". Me thinks we are being a little hard on the poster. Great list but I'd change CDB song to Trudy. I love that tune. ____________________ Hey Yankees, you can take your crappy trophy's and shove them right up your asses!

Trudy is a great example of a Charlie Daniels story song. he does them so well and makes them so easily. That might be my favorite CDB song.
George Thorogood was born in Louisiana but raised in Delaware. Delaware is Yankee territory as delineated by the Mason Dixon line even though just as geographically southern as Maryland. ____________________ Do not panic!

Just for kicks thought I'd take the same list and throw in some of my favorites....
Kings Of Leon - Wasted Time (can't comment, not familiar with)
Ozark Mountain Daredevils - Jackie Blue (works for me, did they have any other hits?)
The Outlaws - Hurry Sundown (Green Grass is obvious, I'll go w/ Gunsmoke)
The Black Crowes - Twice As Hard (Remedy)
ZZ Top - Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers (Jesus Just Left Chicago)
The Georgia Satellites - Battleship Chains (Yup)
Gregg Allman - Can't Keep Running (That would be way down on my list, Multicolored Lady)
The Kentucky Headhunters - Walk Softly On This Heart Of Mine (can't comment, not familiar with)
38 Special - Rockin' Into The Night (You're the Captain)
Charlie Daniels Band - Drinkin' My Baby Goodbye (No Place Left to Go)
Hank Williams Jr - Country Boy Can Survive (Whiskey Bent & Hell Bound)
Travis Tritt - Put Some Drive In Your Country (Ok by me, like Travis but haven't listened enough)
Little Feat - Oh Atlanta (Spanish Moon)
George Thorogood - Gear Jammer (One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer)
Blackfoot - Left Turn On A Red Light (Yup)
Montgomery Gentry - Hell Yeah (can't comment, not familiar with)
The Allman Brothers Band - Whipping Post (Varies every day)
Lynyrd Skynyrd - On The Hunt (Cry For the Badman)
The Marshall Tucker Band - Take The Highway (Yup)
Molly Hatchet - Gator Country (The Price You Pay)
Anyone else? ____________________ "Please don't confront me with my failures ... I'm aware of them" |

Ditto! Grapes of Wrath, Alligator -- what a great storyteller Charlie is -- Legend of Wooly Swmp is my favorite (as if the sig line didn't tell you that) -- what album is Trudy from, don't know that one
I nominate The Devil Went to Jamaica (would David Allen Coe qualify as Southern rock? ) ____________________ "I know y'all came to hear our songs, we like to play 'em for you but without Gregg here it's really hard for us to do.
