There is a video that circulates with a lot of footage from the Egypt shows. Interesting to watch some Deadheads climb the great pyramid to plant a GD flag on top...

I bet their trip to egypt was during their acid test.

These Egypt shows were recorded for a live album (which was supposed to help pay for the trip), but the shows were not that good and the GD would not release it. The trip was a financial disaster. I have 9/14/78 AUD on cassette, the sound and performance are not too good (I wouldn't release this show either), but I do have the SBD of the second set of 9/16/78. To me, the best stuff is Hamza El-Din and his band, who opened the shows, especially when the GD came on and played with them to start their 1st set. The GD brought El-Din and his band over to San Francisco in October as an opening act. The SBD 10/21/78 show from Winterland "From Egypt With Love" run is a good example, it contains a couple songs by Hamza El-Din band and then the GD play with them, like they did in Egypt.

The shows may be on archive.org as well if you're broadband capable.

Wish we could download crispy ABB shows from the archives as well. That'd kick ass. There's upwards of 2000 offerings from just the Grateful Dead over there. We should be so lucky!

The Pyramid Run - Sept 14 - 16. The 9/14 has an audience recording that is not supposed to be very good. However , there are two SBD's that are in existence of the
9/15 and 9/16 shows. You may want to try dbe-tree and see if anyone is willing to trade for them. http://db.etree.org/ .
Maybe there will be magic on this forum soon with some Grateful Dead offers!!

Phil

I think there is, but I have been told that not only was it not a great show, but it is also a rough recording
