Sorry to say it's true, not to many details out yet.
I had the pleasure to know him a bit, and he was the most down to earth guy you could meet.
Sources say it was an accidental death.
My thoughts are with his family, friends, and bandmates.
Just 55 years young I believe.
Peace, TR

Yes he did. He also fronted a Beatles cover band Beatlejuice, and did an amazing job with that as well. They used to play almost monthly at a club a mile from my house. Gonna miss those shows.

Wow, I hadn't heard this yet. Haven't put any news on. I too have seen Beatlejuice many, many times all over the Boston/New England area. I wonder what happened. Very sad to hear this.

This TRULY sucks!! I got to see Boston twice in their glory days! I even have Barry Goudreau's solo album, which had Brad on a few tracks. I know Boston is the definition of classic rock radio, but this really stinks.

RIP Brad Delp.

Boston lead singer Brad Delp dies at 55

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

ATKINSON, N.H. -- Brad Delp, the lead singer for Boston, a huge rock sensation in the 1970s, was found dead Friday in his home, police said. He was 55.

Atkinson police responded to a call for help at 1:20 p.m. and found Delp dead. Police Lt. William Baldwin said in a statement the death was "untimely" and that there was no indication of foul play.

Delp apparently was alone at the time of his death, Baldwin said.

The cause of his death remained under investigation by the Atkinson police and the New Hampshire Medical Examiner's office. Police said an incident report would not be available until Monday.

Delp fronted the rock band, who rose to fame in the late 1970s and had several hits, including "More than A Feeling." The group sold millions of records.

Good bye Brad

I read once that Tom Scholz said that it was Brad's magic voice that made his songs come to life. Very sad. RIP Brad.

I knew Brad socially for a time span of about nine years. Actually it was through Barry that I knew him, and can honestly tell you he was a very kind, genuine, and down to earth guy. He was never caught up in the "Rockstar" thing, and was very engaging in conversation. If Brad was talking to you, then to Brad, you were the only one in the room.
As the night goes on, I'm thinking of more things to say.
I remember a broadcast a few years ago on WZLX here in Boston where Beatlejuice was playing, and they had the bus that the Beatles painted up, and drove around in back in the day at the finish line for the Boston Marathon and Brad asked to go in it, and was like a little kid in that thing. Man, just what a nice guy.

The bottom line, Brad's voice and soul will always live through the music. No more than in this song. You can't hear this song without cranking off the knob and smiling.

R.I.P Bradley Delp.

More Than a Feeling

I looked out this morning and the sun was gone
Turned on some music to start my day
I lost myself in a familiar song
I closed my eyes and I slipped away

It's more than a feeling, when I hear that old song they used to play (more than a feeling)
I begin dreaming (more than a feeling)
'till I see Marianne walk away
I see my Marianne walkin' away

So many people have come and gone
Their faces fade as the years go by
Yet I still recall as I wander on
as clear as the sun in the summer sky

It's more than a feeling, when I hear that old song they used to play (more than a feeling)
I begin dreaming (more than a feeling)
'till I see Marianne walk away
I see my Marianne walkin' away

When I'm tired and thinking cold
I hide in my music, forget the day
and dream of a girl I used to know
I closed my eyes and she slipped away
She slipped awa y. She slipped away.

It's more than a feeling, when I hear that old song they used to play (more than a feeling)
I begin dreaming (more than a feeling)
'till I see Marianne walk away
I see my Marianne walkin' away

Who between the age of 35 and 45 did not grow up with the ever present sound of Boston. Delp did have a great voice but I always felt Boston sounded a little manufactured. I don't know what they sounded like live but that picture of Brad posted here is shocking to me because the last picture I saw of him was from the cover of that album with that giant afro. It's a shame that the band was not more prolific but I understand that was due to the tempermental nature of Tom Scholz.

Rest in Peace.

Doug

That's a bummer ! I consider the first Boston album a classic. I also loved the second album. Those records are part of my summertime soundtrack. Never got to catch them live.

Rest in peace.

Now everybodys got advice they just keep on givin
Doesnt mean too much to me
Lots of people out to make-believe theyre livin
Cant decide who they should be.

I understand about indecision
But I dont care if I get behind
People livin' in competition
All I want is to have my peace of mind.

RIP Brother Brad

RIP Brad, this is a bummer.

All thanks and praises to anyone who makes a life of making music, there's really nothing better we can do on this earth.

Mike, nice words for the most part but I gotta say, bro, I have no idea why you bothered to mention Boston's politics? They weren't exactly known as a political force, and this doesn't seem like the moment anyway. Oh, and Doug, the guy w the afro was drummer Sib Hashian, if I recall correctly.

From those who knew him a little postng here, it does sound like Brad had his peace of mind.
