Let me rephrase and apologize for the condescending remark about Canada. I've worked with the Windsor PD, the RCMP and RCOLP. I've decommissioned a Candian ensign over some Molsons and visited Windsor's finest strip clubs with the police. I must apologize for the way that came out. But correct me if I am wrong when this guy is showing a blatant disregard for trading etiquette and plainly saying that he intends to get his copy of that box set however possible. This is so ridiculous! It's music!

I tell you what beds. Go enjoy your music. Have fun with your cd's. Sleep well!

BTW

Canada is great!

Slowhand's back to the righteous crap again...surprise, surprise.

What a hypocrite you are! I saw in your first post how you "try to respect" people.

I saw how you "follow the law" when you told me to trade for it...when it seems GD doesn't want officially released shows to be traded.

You even acknowledged that;
quote:
That's my understanding of it as well. The Allman Brothers do it the same way with their official releases.

Yet you told me to trade for it.

Do you always contradict yourself regularly, or am I just getting special treatment?

Another example of good intentions going to Hell.

I feel bad for the people who are all pissy about this happening. I would suggest that everyone had an opportunity to get in on the ordering process and if you didn't whose fault is it?

Hey Freak, You win!

By the way, Are you almost done with that Derek & the Dominos vine or are you planning on killing the vine? You have had it for two or three days now haven't you? i mean even for international mail you should have turned it around & updated the vine by now. That is if your intentions are good.

Searching my posts, eh Slowbrain; you really do need to pump up your ego any way possible, don't ya?

The cd's haven't arrived yet...not that it's your business, but anyone on the vine reading this deserves to know that.

When it arrives, it will be sent out the next day....

Try is the operative word here. I find it all somewhat confusing. But when someone gives me some warning that what I am doing may be wrong I listen. If you go back to my first post on this website and read what I wrote you will see that it was about this very issue. And I got spanked pretty good! But I APOLOGIZED and began trying to learn the etiquette for participating in the Vines and Trades on this board.

Here is my olive branch beds. This has been fun, and I got a charge out of arguing with you. But it really isn't in the spirit of this board. Please respect the band and, if you do copy those shows, do not distribute them to anyone else. It's just wrong. Peace~!

Let me try to clear this up. I think the Allman Brothers and Grateful Dead have a similar policy.

You can trade any SHOW you want, as long as it's an audience recording, and in the case of both the GD and ABB, you can find audience recordings of just about every show.

You can NOT trade an official soundboard recording of the exact same show, because that SOURCE belongs to the band, not to you or your friends.

It's not the show, it's the source. Remember that handy phrase and all will become clear!

Actually Rob, if you look at etree for GD any shows that are an official release are totally off limits. But I have never been able to find anything official from the Grateful Dead camp stating that.

Ok, it's not in the spirit of this board...so I will apologise for airing my views in this forum.

And, just so it's clear; I've never sold bootlegs, or traded them for personal gain...other than one for one of another show.

I feel this thread is of particular relevance in this discussion. It contains some great information from JNB concerning some of the policies set forth by Kid Glove and the ABB.

http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&file=v iewthread&tid=13158#pid210085

It also has a section where I get my peepee slammed in the door!

Think any promo copies marked 'never ever to be sold under ANY circumstances' will show up in the used bin at your local record store?

Back when I was in college, around 95, I used to see shows in some otherwise incredible record stores. They were sold for between $19 and $50 depending on how many discs constituted the show! I remember hearing that one day around the same time ASCAP arrived with some authorities and removed all of the bootlegs from the bins and confiscated them. The local paper even covered it as a news story. They referred to the Grateful Dead mostly as the shows that were taken. But as you can imagine there were lots of other artists too. I guess that's why I feel so grateful that all of that music that I used to covet and not be able to afford is so readily availabel now; and free!

I'm not talking about downloading off the Internet, which is a good thing, because I've never downloaded a show in my life and wouldn't know what I'm talking about

What I'm saying is that if you can find somebody with an audience recording of one of those "off limits" shows, and get them to make a copy for you the old-fashioned way, I don't think the Grateful Dead police are going to come kick down your door in the middle of the night
