I really hate when people take advantage of others. Of course if you are willing to be duped then maybe you deserve it.

I post this because someone just in front of me in the Instant Live line on 9/26 picked up 30 copies of Sunday's shows. I just went through the ABB section at ebay and didn't see any for that show but...1 was for sale for Saturday and the bid was up to $86. Damn! Don't buy from ebay. Either Rob or JNB said on another post they would eventually be available at Hittin the Note! Support the band not those individuals that are trying to make a buck!

I like ebay for different reasons. Not to get ripped off from being ignorant

... Ebay is a good chance to get something of good quality at halve price or lower, I like it. But it can be addicting for others, and a for bad consumers willing to blow $165 on an Instant Live.

Heck, you could bring your whole family to see ABB for that price.

Let the buyer beware. It isn't the seller's fault if people are stupid enough to spend that kind of cash. No one is forcing them to pay those prices. That being said, it wouldn't kill me to see this guy who bought 30 copies to not be able to sell them all and have to eat them. If he puts that many up for bid, sooner or later people will get the picture (one would think), realize they aren't that rare and the price will drop.

If you get the right seats then you might be able to bring your extended family too.

.. The ignorance of some of these buyers is hilarious, although I shouldn't talk. They may be ignorant towards an ABB Show, on the otherhand. I may be ignorant towards a different topic

I dunno. I paid $80 apiece for the pit seats plus another $10+ for the TM charges, so these shows certainly weren't cheap!

I just saw where they have the Instant Live 9/06/04 show at Darien, NY on ebay. No bids, but they have a "Buy It Now" for $89.99.

Value, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Say somebody bought that CD for $75 on EBAY and absolutely loved it. Loved it!! Played it all the time. In the car, in the office, before bed. You name it. Well worth the $75 for that person. Conversely, if somebody paid $10 for it a yard sale, and absolutely hated it, they wouldn't hate it less because it was only $10.

Be happy so many people are willing to buy the music. Be happy you know to buy it on HTN. Be happy the music makes others happy, no matter what the price. Be happy our Brothers are still making great music. And stop bashing EBAY. I love it.

If he could afford to buy them now and hang on to them just think what he might make off of them in 10-15 years when they would really be collectibles. Unopened and in mint condition.....some people buy and collect all types of items possibly for their value many years down the road. I buy a few coins (nothing real serious) that I have seen on ebay for much more than I can still buy them from the US Mint....I can't say that I haven't thought of buying and just turning around and selling. I haven't quite decided if that is morally correct.....but then again, EVERYTHING you buy has been marked up somewhere down the road.

Ebay is a fine personal choice!(Kids skiis $20) The key word here is 'choice'.

I hate Ticketbaster! Where is a choice of venders here? And I am perfectly ok w/ an $8 fee on a $50 ticket because that's like a really bad tip on a $50 dinner.
But $8 fee on a $11.50 lawn seats for the kids is like having to give the guy at 'FastBugers' at 75% tip for handing you the bag'o'burgers when he can't even cook.
I could choose not to see the show at all I guess and that is a lousey choice.

We could have taken the neighbors kids w/ ours for what we 'tipped' on the cheap seats.
So much for sharing the love.....

In the instance of tickets I don't understand the service charge per ticket....should be one service charge per service (transaction)....thats my beef.

But thats another thread.

Capitalists would say,

"The Market determines the price. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it."

I sure as heck would not pay two hundred bucks for a fleabag hotel in the apple, but people do.

Ticketbastard added 6 bux to a ten dollar ticket at the Rock and Roll Hall of fame.

the very best things in life are FREE.

Instant Live should open up a sellers account and sell the shows themselves on E-Bay for whatever people will pay. But only if they still are available at concerts and their regular retailers for the regular price. They should also post a reasonable "Buy it Now" price on them. I use E-Bay like others here to pick things up on the cheap. Most of my work clothes were $10 or less there. You do have to check out the S & H chrges though because many sellers try to raise them up to add to their profit. Just got an Irish Police hat with Badge attached for twenty bucks to add to my collection.

Be safe,
John

Keep in mind also that many people got shut out of the Instant Lives the HTN due to the limited run (on both pressings) so there is no guarantee that even HTN will have enough available to satisfy every customer. Plus there is no guarantee yet that every show will be made available for sale. So, granted that the prices are indeed steep on ebay, this may still be the only viable source for many to obtain these shows and if they are willing to pay the premium to get that particular show, then that's their perogative to do so.

Forget that.....many great tapers at the shows and I'm sure the quality is strong....it's just a pretty CD case....granted, i bought 2nd night fox....but trading between 3 people for each night....these shows will always be out there....Tapers unite...

Exactly.... I've heard ABB shows that were taped by tapers that sounded a million times better than intstant lives version of a show... and yea, it pretty much is just the case.

Two points really quick. First, Instant Lives are a mix of soundboard and audience mikes, so they really do have different sound quality than a pure audience tape. Don't get me wrong, a good taper who knows what he is doing and has a good pair of Schoeps can still produce a high quality recording, but the Instant Lives sound really great, in my opinion.

Second, Hittin The Note has thought about opening an ebay store for the very reasons posted. If people are willing to pay that much for these shows, the demand is clearly there!

We are truly sorry that some folks have been shut out of the Instant Lives before, but if you want to avoid that, register on our website. We will send out a big email blast to everyone on our list before this next batch becomes available, and you will be able to pre-order them through hittinthenote.com.

Dave

So I'm just thinking that Instant Live has all the masters, so why not open them up for orders to shut down the chumps on eBay who are shilocking folks who love the ABB?
