Sorry for the bad vibe.

My oldest son is a Marine, and he is leaving later today for Iraq. This is the worst day we have ever had as parents. Please pray and send as much good karma his way as you can.

Thanks brothers and sisters.

Once again sorry.

Proud Marine dad of Wes

No need to be sorry about the thread - this should be, and is, a place to come with stuff like this.

You all will be in our prayers.

What he said. You can keep in touch with guys in the military reasonably well these days, can't you? I hope he stays safe.

I know how you feel. My oldest son was sent over two weeks after turning 19. He was scheduled to leave on his birthday but we had a major snowstorm so we were able to celebrate together. He is now home and attending college until the next call...... Many don't realize how quick it is from little league to this......It really reached inside me when the time to see him leave arrived. The families were all there. some were newlyweds, others with small babies, some didn't look old enough to shave but all looked braver than those left behind. When I saw my youngest daughter, eight years old, squeezing her brother with tears rolling down her cheeks it took all of the air from my lungs. It's so hard, the news is more than just the news....

No need to say you are sorry, it is not a bad vibe, you are not alone.
Steve

I know where you're coming from as far as saying this is the "worst" day as parents you've ever had. But you and your spouse should be damn proud, try to look at it as the proudest day as parents you've ever had! Not trying to be corny, but a grateful nation is with your son all the way.

All my best to your son and your family. I hope you find a peace about it. I am grateful for his and every other person's sacrifice for duty. Thanks for letting us know.

I have a stepson that will be deployed very shortly, and he is so ready to go it has allayed most of my fears. He could have just finished out his time here in the states, but he has wanted to go all along and now that he has been given the opportunity, he will go.

wavrnr,
Prayers and good wishes to your son Wes.

I'm sure it's a very difficult time for your family but try to stay strong and positive. We all wish the best for Wes and the rest of the men and women deployed overseas as well as a safe and speedy return.

No need to be sorry for coming to friends for support

Wavnr, I'll be hoping that your son is brought home safely. Remember, what your son is fighting for is just - it is necessary, he is part of something that needs to be done and very few take that responsibility. He'll be in my thoughts, along with other service men and women who I know that are serving our great country.

He is already a good man just by serving. We would be nothing without those like your son. If he needs some mailings or news from the homefront, let us know. I am sure he will serve honorably, and he is in my prayers for sure.

Best Wishes to your Son, Bro. We just played a tune for, and recognized a Fellow Marine at a gig this past Saturday who is leaving today for Iraq, and I made it a point to shake the Man's hand during our break, as I would do if I had the pleasure of meeting your Son. We owe a great deal to the brave Men and Women who wear The United States Flag on their sleeve. Semper Fi. TR

My thoughts and prayers are with you. You've got a son to be extremely proud of. And I second what someone said about music. Let me know what he likes to listen to and I'll be more than happy to put together some compilations for him.
