Thread: Original Live at Filmore question

Hello All,

This is my first post..... I recently discovered this site after reading Gregg's bio, and then One Way Out by Alan Paul. It was a joy to read these books and revisit all this great music. I needed the journey to continue so I was thrilled to find such a large, in depth community of music lovers dedicated to The Allman Brothers.

Obviously I'm a huge ABB fan. As a bass player, I spent my formative years absorbing everything I possibly could about Berry's amazing playing by listening to Live at the Filmore East, even learning certain sections note for note so I could play them in my high school rock band. Anyway, I'm rambling a bit...
So, after absorbing so much of that album, I was really thrown, and dissapointed when I got The Filmore Concerts and found that songs were different versions than the ones that were part of my musical DNA. There's no Duane introducing Whipping Post with "Berry starts 'er up"... and Hot Lanta is different... and many other things just didn't sound right. My question is, can I get the original album version on CD, or is any 'new' version of this beloved album going to have Tom Dowd's changes.

Thanks,

Keith
