Our theme this year: "GABBA turns 21! We're legal!" Let's party!

We’re at a cool new venue, The 567 Center For Renewal, 533 Cherry Street, Macon, Georgia, just around the corner from The Cox Capitol Theatre.

Appearing Friday night, October 11:
The Peacheaters, from Boston, MA
The Lefty Collins Band
The Barry Richman Band headlining!

I expect there will lots of sit ins and jamming between these three bands!

Appearing Saturday, October 12:
The reunion of Macon's own Boogie Chillun! 1st time playing together in 43 years
Les Dudek is headlining!

Beginning with Friday night, October 11, We're pleased to have as 1st time GABBAfest performers, The Peacheaters all the way from Boston, MA. If you've been around Hittin' The Web for any length of time, then you know The Peacheaters consist of two of our own from the forums, "Alec" Antobenedetto and John "BigTrout" Bennett. They have been playing a mix of ABB, Grateful Dead, The Band, Van Morrison, as well as originals for many years. A seasoned band and well oiled machine, they bring the jam band vibe with them for every performance.

We're glad to have Lefty Collins Band back at GABBAfest. Lefty is a dear friend of GABBA and many of the people in GABBA. Lefty has a great band and has made many fine accomplishments in the last few years since moving south from Chicago to Alabama, having entered and placed in The Blues Foundation – International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN in 2012 as a finalist. Lefty still returns to Chicago frequently to play at The House of Blues.

Headlining Friday night is Atlanta based guitarist, Barry Richman and The Barry Richman Band. Barry has a long history in the Atlanta and Macon, Georgia music scenes, having been a part of The Almost Brothers Band in the 70’s with the Allman Brothers Band roadies, Twiggs Lyndon, Red Dog and Buddy Thornton, and has been an on stage guest with The Allman Brothers Band, as well. Barry was also on hand as we celebrated the life of Red Dog at The Cox Capitol Theatre in 2011. He plays some really cool guitars, and he plays them well! Barry is stoked to be headlining GABBAfest for the first time!

On Saturday, for the first time in 43 years, Macon’s own Boogie Chillun will reunite. Boogie Chillun were playing in Macon a few years before the Allman Brothers Band arrived in 1969, and were actually signed to Capricorn Records BEFORE The Allman Brothers. As a matter of fact, Boogie Chillun played several shows in Piedmont Park and Central City Park, with ABB sharing some of Boogie Chillun’s stage equipment. By 1970, Boogie Chillun were in the studio recording their first album when the band suddenly broke up. So now, for the first time in 43 years, they will once again rock Macon, Georgia. The local buzz for this reunion show is amazing!

Headlining Saturday night - and we couldn’t be more excited about this – just in time for the 40th anniversary of The Allman Brothers Band "Brothers and Sisters" album, the man who was in the studio with The Allman Brothers Band and can be heard prominently in the tracks, Ramblin’ Man and Jessica, is the one and only LES DUDEK!! Les has expressed his excitement to return to Macon, where he spent much time and made great music in the early 70’s. Les has had a remarkable career backing up many well known performers, including Steve Miller Band, Cher, Stevie Nicks, Dave Mason, Boz Scaggs and Derek and the Dominoes' Bobby Whitlock. Les fronts his own three piece band now and still plays a mean slide guitar. This will be a truly memorable GABBAfest!

PLUS, Locks of Love donation, the 1st ever GABBA beard contest, vendors, GABBA Members Jam back at the Big House Museum, and lots more! Hope to see you all there!
