Thread: GABBAfest 2012 news!

Save the date!

GABBAfest 2012 is tentatively set for Friday and Saturday, October 26-27. I know this is later in the year than normal for GABBAfest, but we selected this date because we're pretty certain ABB will not be touring on this weekend (TTB will be on the Blues Cruise that weekend.) We can only hope that maybe there will be a summer/fall ABB tour, though.

Julie and I were talking while on our Florida road trip about attending this year! Going to work on making that happen!!

Maybe get the Peacheaters booked in and around the area! That would be fun!

Getting 'back where it all began' with original GABBAfest dates! 20 years y'all!
Thanks for the heads up. Gotta get those vacation days secured.

Time to let a cat out of the bag.

GABBA is pleased to announce Sonny Moorman will be our headliner on Saturday October 27. Sonny is a Cincinatti, OH blues guitar master. I had the pleasure of hearing him perform with Tommy Talton at Smith's Olde Bar after the Allman Brothers Band's Piedmont Park concert in 2007. He can rip! Plus, if you weren't aware, he is managed by former ABB road manager, Willie Perkins.

Check out this video of Sonny with guitar blazing.

More info on GABBAfest artists!

Friday night, October 26, we will have Mystery Road returning from last year to perform Eat A Peach in its entirety as a tribute to the 40th anniversary of its release, then we will have our Friday headliner, Sarasota, FL's Kettle of Fish featuring Berry Duane Oakley performing original songs and a select Allman Brothers cover or two!

Saturday night, October 27, Neal Lucas Band, a great jazzy blues trio from Columbus, GA, will open for Sonny Moorman. We are going to be steeped in the blues at this years GABBAfest!

More announcements about ticket pricing and availability to be announced soon!

Hey GABBA folks! We've got some information about The GABBA Members Jam, which is always held the Saturday afternoon of GABBAfest weekend. This year, The GABBA Members Jam will be held at The Middle Georgia Raceway in Byron, GA, on Highway 41, which was the site of the Second Atlanta International Pop Festival back on July 3-5, 1970. Why there? Glad you asked! As you know, The Allman Brothers Band played the opening set of the festival on July 3rd and the closing set on July 5th. Many great bands, including Mountain, Grand Funk Railroad, Jimi Hendrix, Rare Earth and several others also played this historic event. GABBA, along with The Big House Museum, Hittin' The Note magazine, The Georgia Historical Society and The Byron Area Historical Society were recently involved in efforts to place a historical marker at the site. Hosting the GABBA Members Jam at the site where so many southern freaks and hippies congregated over so much great music 42 years ago just seemed to be the right thing to do. So, from 12:00PM to 4:00PM on Saturday, October 27, 2012, GABBA members will gather inside the track and play some great Allman Brothers Band and blues and boogie music. You must be a GABBA member to participate. An alternate venue, in case of rain, will be announced soon. As was done last year, Mystery Road band, our Friday night GABBAfest 2012 opening band, will facilitate and host the jam. Feel free to ask questions or post comments.
