Thread: 2006 Peachies Nominations - Technicals - Best Audience Recording

Slammer - 1/26/2007 at 06:01 PM

Here is the thread you can nominate the "Best Audience Recording" for the upcoming 2006 “Technical Peachies Category”. This is our shout-out to the taping community – those wonderful souls that work endlessly to bring use the music that we love. Please post the Taper, the Band or Artist, the city, and the date of the show. Feel free to reference as many Best Audience Recordings as necessary. If someone already nominated a Best Audience Recording you feel is Peach worthy, go ahead and second that nomination.

We'll take nominations for the next week and a half (until Feb 5th). A few days before the official voting period (Feb 13 - 19th), the presenter of this award and I will pick the 5 or 6 Tapers that received the most nominations so we can include them on the official ballot. Try and keep this bumped for the next week or so to garner as many nominations as possible. Happy nominating

I find Lee Ramsey's recording of the Mule set of 8/30/06 to be quite excellent, so I'll nominate him and that recording.

His recording of the ABB set from that night is top shelf as well, but that Mule show really stands out for its depth and crispness, IMO.

Also, I don't know who the taper was for my recording of the acoustic Gregg and Warren set from Red Rocks, but that is also exceptional. I'll see if I have a text file for that and then make a formal nomination.

Jim Kelly made a rather fine recording of the Tweeter show 8/26/06. Got both the Mule and ABB sets. jim is a fine taper, he also recorded a crisp copy of the Derek and Susan show at the Berklee in Boston. Not many tapers there that night, so if anyone here has a copy, it may be his.
I hereby nominate Jim.

Scott Brown's recording of 3/13/06, both 16-bit CD version and 24-bit DVD audio. Terrific stuff.

Bluesguy and BigVic have been impressing me with some incredible shows for a few years now!!

JimWag is not a taper Dutch, apparently it is his i suppose we should be nominating this dude in his stead.

don't put JimWag's name on the ballot please!

To all ABB fans that I have traded with under the following email and user name– JIMWAG323

I received an angry email from my cousin yesterday informing me that I have been nominated for a 2006 Peachies award for the following category – Technicals – Best Audience.

I am not the taper on these or any shows – I am just the person who trades the masters I receive from my cousin or other traders. I have constantly reminded all the fans I trade with that I am just a “TRADER” not the TAPER.

My cousin deserves all the credit. He has been spent a very large amount of his money, time, energy and expertise in learning how to use his equipment and the sweet posts at the Beacon.
His posting name here and at other sights is – ANTNYJAM
HE DERSERVES ALL THE CREDIT!!! Please post his name instead of mine!

I am quite sure a lot of the ABB family here has done some sort of trade/trades with him. The quality is exceptional and always-in high demand. I would put his copies against any others out there!

I have been informed by my cousin Anthony, that because this has happened here so many times that he now believes that I telling people that I am in fact the taper. He is imposing an embargo on all his music to me due to this error.

I would greatly appreciate that his name be posted in place of mine and that all future postings of “thanks” from any trades that I may be a part of in the future be directed to my cousin.

I never asked for any awards or told anyone here at the ABB site or at any show that I deserve any credit for recording the music that I trade, I am only doing what the “Family of Traders” is supposed to do – spread the music.

If any trading friends of mine here that I have done business with reads this, I would appreciate a message be posted that I in fact don’t take credit for my cousin’s work.

I hope that this posting gets the attention of the person or person’s that nominated my name and changes the posting to ANTNYJAM.

I hope to be able to convince my cousin with this posting, the change of the nomination and any responses here that I have not taken credit for his hard work to be able to get back in good standings for any future music.
Thanks and peace to all - JIM

also i hope he wont mind me mentioning this, but MULETAPER started taping shows because his wife loves live music, and for medical reasons she cant get out to them. So, he tapes them and brings them home for her. I hear a lot of love in those shows of his as a result!

I would like to nominate Paul Rossi (aka Permagrin), for his 2006 Wanee Audience Recordings.

Nothing like getting those bubble mailers with the discs to remind us of what a great time we had! I'm already looking forward to the 2007 Wanne Audience Recordings *smile*

heidiR - 2/7/2007 at 01:19 AM

Might be a little one way!! PaulR's Wannee 06.....WOW
Lots of golf cart rides to get from stage to stage, Thanks to great friends,
and tons of great music to get us ready for Wannee This year.........

paulr - 2/14/2007 at 03:10 AM

I guess just to keep things fair I got left off the ballot. Good luck to the rest of the nominees.

BigDaveOnBass - 2/14/2007 at 02:17 PM

I'd like to remind everyone that even if your nominee didn't make it onto the ballot, you CAN write in your candidate for their respective category. A perfect example is....Paul Rossi was nominated for Best Audience Recording for Wanee 2006. Just because he didn't get on the ballot doesn't mean he can't win if he gets enough write in votes. We all know PaulR is the man when it comes to great audience recordings!!
