Thread: 2006 Peachies Nominations - Concert Goer of the Year

Slammer - 1/26/2007 at 05:36 PM

Here is the thread you can nominate the "Concert-Goer of the Year" for the upcoming 2006 Peachies. Feel free to reference as many Concert-Goers as necessary. If someone already nominated an Attendee you feel is Peach worthy, go ahead and second that nomination.

We'll take nominations for the next week and a half (until Feb 5th). A few days before the official voting period (Feb 13 - 19th), the presenter of this award and I will pick the 5 or 6 of the Attendees that received the most nominations so we can include them on the official ballot. Try and keep this bumped for the next week or so to garner as many nominations as possible. Happy nominating

dadof2boys - 1/26/2007 at 07:05 PM

i vote for LinnieXX---but,Linnie,i'm close & a bit more diverse---but it's all yours since the NYE pre party got my vote too

LinnieXX - 1/26/2007 at 07:18 PM

thanks effie! just for the record this doesnt count as a 'vote' YET, but it can count as a second to get it on the ballot. The votes will be done via a web form that will be posted as soon as we get a bunch of nominations, as per Slammers schedule.

and thanks for the Nod for the NYE preshow! Jon should be pleased about that.

Uponthe2ndfloor - 1/26/2007 at 07:34 PM

Wow.I'll second Linnie with that list.

Also nominate Ozzypie for seeing every Beacon show last year.

BigDaveOnBass - 1/26/2007 at 09:08 PM

Linnie's list is impressive, no doubt.

I'd like to nominate Haisija. He flies out of TX for shows all over the country.

I first met Jon at the dTb show in Athens, GA in late March. I've seen him at least three other times, ABB/ATL on August 20, GABBAfest in Macon in early October and Jam For Duane in Gadsden, AL in late October. I missed him several times while he was in my neck of the woods, but my Road Dawg was fortunate enough to see him several more times than I did. He may not have made it to as many shows as Linnie, but for all of his travelling, he deserves a nomination.

I'll second that. I remember when Hai flew up to Chicago for the DTB DVD show back when he hardly new any of us . . . I think he had only been on the board for a few months. That may have been his first air-trip of '06.

bluedad - 1/27/2007 at 12:11 PM

Damn Linnie,

You did not mention the trip to Macon just to hang out in ABB country with some PEACHY people for an afternoon...

Jon May (Haisija) gets on the plane and comes to the show, and leaves at some insane hours to get home...

LinnieXX and Haisija and if I get a 3rd vote......TIMO and his wife from Finland. ATL and Wanee

Rusty - 1/28/2007 at 12:26 AM

LinnieXX and Haisja ... who could compete with those two? UNLESS ... Vinsanity - went to pert-near ALL of shows in last year's Beacon run! That's true All-MANIAC dedication!

ahhhhhhhh...... so that's how you make it to soooo many shows huh Jon?

I used to work for the airlines........ boy do i miss non-revving.

CowboyNeil - 1/28/2007 at 03:48 PM

I'm nominating Matt, orignpeach,as he crossed oceans for shows and flew out to Red Rocks and did the entire show in shorts and sandals in the fridgid colorado rain like a MAN that he is.he really should be up for the "Shrinkage" peachy,or juevos rancheros peachy but that's not a catagory

LinnieXX - 1/28/2007 at 03:56 PM

speak to me of this "Non-rev"..........hmmmn......

I kept the list from my ticket stubs that havent been filed yet, my list is already helping me to curtail the number i attend this year, i figured last year there had o be about $10K worth of expenses. i'd be lying if i said it wasnt worth it but i can't repeat this feat in good conscience this year.

had i not been flat on my back sick last year for a month i'm sure there would have been at least five more on that list! (vying for sympathy vote )

seconding DancingGirl, Sairia goes to a lot of stuff!

CowboyNeil - 1/28/2007 at 04:19 PM

Linnie you have my vote but had to give shout out to Matt !!

Impressive resume young lady, almost makes me want to move back East.

I'm going to see The New Riders ofThe Puple Sage tonite, just for the blast from the past.

LinnieXX - 1/28/2007 at 05:14 PM

well thanks Neil! if you do move back, you could count on having at least one dinner date!

i will certainly second Matt! anyone that flew overseas to go see Derek and Eric gets a nod! yahooooo!!!!

lolasdeb - 1/29/2007 at 01:11 AM

Based on what I'm seeing above...

LinnieXX
Haisija

CowboyNeil - 1/29/2007 at 01:52 PM

Another reason to move back east!

No1ToRunWith - 1/29/2007 at 02:07 PM

If I was single with no kids my list would be that impressive, my vote is for Linnie and Haisija

PeterNelson - 1/31/2007 at 06:26 AM

Linnie, I had really cool dreams last night (Tuesday a.m.), of which you were the star of the best part, a bit before I woke up.

Nevertheless, since
1. I didn't see you at Rosemont (or Indy etc.) this year (sorry about the MRSA, but these elections are tough--you didn't see George Bush, Sr., get reelected in 1992 after he threw up his sushi all over his Japanese hosts, did you? ), but
2. I did very much enjoy meeting Hai at the Park West and
3. talking away the night with Hai and Suzie at the House of Blues (I was also trying to listen to Lefty, but you know Suzie!) and
4. giving Hai just a partial Blues Brothers tour of Daley Plaza ("Hey, that's where they got that Picasso!") and the City-County Building ("Hut! Hut! Hut! Hut!") when leaving the HOB for O'Hare,
. . . since all that, I'm renominating Hai!

But that was a far better dream than any I could possibly have had of Hai.

Wait, let me put that another way.
Man, is there any way to write a single entendre around here? Anywho, now I'm sure I'd better spare you the details, so let's just say the dream scene involved something I'd never even imagined before, so that was pretty cool.

LinnieXX - 2/6/2007 at 06:21 PM

wow, i'm a muse for Peter! COOL, and apparently quite the muse, since it appears may be making up words! LMAO!!!

I found this while researching the syntax above using a "Define entendre" google.

"No definitions were found for entendre"

In the case of inspiring wordplay, I suppose you could be identified with Thalia, "the muse of comedy and bucolic poetry"--comedy here being not necessarily haha comedy but mostly not tragedy.

That's because it's always "double entendre," you know, when something can be taken as either neutral or risque. I started to reply to your many with something less vague about that dream I had of you, my muso muse, but every sentence I started was sounding risque to me. I was insincerely wishing for a "single" entendre, but the mood of remembering the dream wouldn't allow any but the double variety.
