Thread: Hi Everybody

Hi everybody,

my name is Giulio, i'm 32 and i'm italian. I have been reading both the forum and the guest book for almost a year and i finally decided to join you guys!

I got into the allman brothers last year, early in september. while on a business trip in Russia I bought a russian copy of Rolling Stone magazine, the one featuring a nice interview with Gregg. When I got back to the my hotel room I started to look for some videos on youtube and found the ones with duane at the fillmore east. I would say that my love for the band started at that minute!

When I got home i talked to my father, who has been a dedicated peachhead and a dedicated duane fan for many years now (he's got ALL the stuff Duane recorded which is legally or illegally available on the market, including the more obscure soul and r&b stuff) and showed him the fillmore videos on youtube. The man had never seen duane and co playing live, so you can imagine his delight...

Actually I find it amazing that, having grown up with the ABB as a kind of soundtrack courtesy of my father, I only came to get interested in them after i read an article while in Russia, actually in Siberia...

Having been an avid record collector (especially for 60's soul, r&b, funk and psych) for the past 15 years or so, I was really surprised to discover I already owned a few tracks where duane played (Sweet William, Hugh Boynton on Lanor, Doris Duke and a few others) and have spent the past few months buying Allman Brothers original lps and watching the more recent concerts on youtube. I have converted a few friends into this new religion and my girlfriend and I are really looking forward to flying to new york next march, 2011, 40 years after Live at Fillmore East was recorded!

The road indeed goes on forever!
