Thread: Rob Barraco

nyc_barb - 3/22/2004 at 01:10 PM

Did this man knock us out on the 19th or not? I have not yet recovered. He took that show over the top and I hope he'll sit in again on this run. His playing defies description, so inspired!
I'm going to look for some New Earth Mud tickets, cause he said he's with them now.
Has he ever sat in with the ABB before?

Hey Barb

While visiting Pittsburgh,PA in Nov.1999, I caught a Phil Lesh
show with Derek & Warren as the featured guitarists which
drew me to the show. I was really into the show and this
keyboard player kept stealing my was Rob Barraco
from at the time the "Zen Tricksters". I've been aware of his presence ever since.
I know when my wife and I attended Raleigh 8-3-01 he sat in for
the ABBs version of Franklins Tower which was great!
Sounds like he caught your attention too this Beacon run.
It looks and sounds like the shows were killer.

If you would like a copy of that Lesh show and/or Raleigh show
shoot a PM.
Take Care, Mike

Hi Mike!
I have a compilation of some of Warren's stuff with Phil and I heard this other guy trading verses with Warren on Acadian Driftwood. I did some homework and found out it was Rob and that he was also playing the keys. When he came out on Friday I nearly died!
I'd love that lesh show, thanks for offering. PMTF.

Not sure about the Bros. but he did play keyboards on tour w/ Gov't Mule in 2002.

Rob is amazing!! The whole time he was on the stage on 9/26 at the Fox I was just in awe!! He really blew my mind on Elizabeth Reed. I really hope that he comes back again because he TORE IT UP!!!!

I was at the 19th show at the Beacon. Rob was amazing. His playing on "Franklins Tower" and "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad?" fit perfectly. But what really stole the show for me was his solo on "Southbound". All I have to say is "perfect".

duane89 - 2/11/2005 at 01:37 AM

ya, id like to see him at the beacon again this year.

LexABB - 3/23/2005 at 03:16 PM

Well I guess now we know if he showed or not

tkirk - 3/24/2005 at 08:47 AM

Rob also played on Monday the 14th, he was great, and
looked like he was really enjoying himself, he had a huge
smile from the time he walked on stage until he walked off.

I'm telling you all - the 14th was an excellent show, anybody
have a copy yet? grovel grovel

I first saw Rob at the Gathering of the Vibes last summer, and he was playing with phil and friends when I went to see them at the Beacon this year. He really is verrrrrrrrrry good.

andrewduffel - 4/24/2006 at 09:57 PM

The second best Mule show I've seen was with Rob Barracco and Dave Schools. I sat 5 rows back right in front of him and it was incredible. I wanted to catch him and Jimmy Herring on The Dragonflys tour but didn't get to go. I am sure it was incredible as well.
