Thread: Roadie Disappointing

I had to get this off my chest and let it simmer a couple of days.

I was @ the 8/16/06 Pitts show and I enjyod every minute of it my hard earned $75 paid for my 8th row seat.

I've been an ABB fan for a long time and I've traveled accross the country and to the Beacon every year to see the Brothers.

I've had nothing but a good time w good folks at all their shows.

I just wanted to share this as a fan....

I was enjoying the last 2 songs of the brothers and got some great pics I will post later this week.

Made my way to the front row for OWO in hopes of meeting memebers of the band or getting a souveneir like a pick or a set list.

Well, there was no picks to be had so I noticed to Xeroxed set list taped to the floor and patiently waited and asked a road that appeared to be mid 50's with a longer gray beard breaking down mikes and equipment for the Petty Set. He looked a me and this other guy and said" The majic word is..... please!!!"

I then replied" Please could I have a set list. I just got one @ the Virginia show and some a few years ago. No big deal, it's just a piece of paper with the set list and date. But it my prize for being a fan !!!

Well the Roadie, must have been in a bad mood or something. He deliberately picked up all the set lists folded them in half and tore them in half and threw them to the back of the stage and laughed. If that made him feel powerful, then mission accomplished.

The guy I was standing there with couldn't beleive what he just witnessed. C'mon its just a paper and there wasn't very many people standing there looking for it, just two of us.
He indicated he had been to a lot of ABB shows and never saw anything like that and was very disappointed.

I won't stop liking the ABB, but I have lost a lot of respect for that Roadie that evening.

If other roadies read this remember you are up there b/c Fans pay there hard earned money to see the bands. And w/o fans you guys wouldn't have employment. Again I'm not knockig all the roadies, these guys work hard and I think it would be a great experience to follow bands like Mule and the ABB. I just wanted to vent and share must front row story of dismay.

OK I'm done crying, on to the next show!!!!

for what its worth that roadie is a guitar tech for tom petty and the heartbreakers and is kind of an ornery old s**t. sorry you had that happen to ya. drop a letter to the big house and we will see about getting ya a copy of that set list. complete with duct tape on it.

I knew it could'nt be the ABB crew.

Glad to see that someone cares!!!

I'd rather have one signed by the whole band but hey, Beggars can't be Choosers.
