I know next to nothing about Rook - but I love his name. Someone enlighten me a bit.

You can find out more about David"ROOK" Goldflies at started out his musical career, more or less in the Cincinnati area. He was a friend of the Toler Brothers, and one thing led to another. I beleive he is down in Florida these days. He was with the brothers when I first tattooed the band back in 79. Hope this helped you out a bit...Neil
P.S.,...Rook also has a CD out called ONE TAN ARM. I heard from him via email a few months back, and it sounds like things are going well for him.[Edited on 7/7/2002 by tattooneil]

Just to give a little background, I went to high school with David. He grew up in Oxford Oh., and the first recording I know of him doing was a 45 release of the song "Black Betty" with a band named Starstruck. The record companies came in after the song was a regional hit in the Cincinnati area, and the lead guitarist Bill Bartlett (Lemon Pipers...Green Tamborine) split for California and joined with a bunch of studio musicians who called themselves Ramjam. If you know the song, the bass lines were Daves as they did an exact copy of the Starstruck single. As karma goes. Bill Bartlett now delivers newspapers in Batesville Ind.

No way! I have Black Betty on my iPod and as soon as I saw where you wrote that Rook was a part of it, I thought, " I didn't know he was in Ramjam?" Then I read the rest...

Batesville, IN, huh? Ironic to note that the compilation Black Betty is classified under in iTunes is "Mullet Rock"
