Thread: No pre-made setlist last night?

It appeared the band didn't have a setlist written up last night. You could hear them call out songs as it went on. You could even hear one of the Phish guys going over the chords of I Know You Rider, before they played it. That's the beauty of Moogis. I posted a few thoughts in another thread last night, that I didn't think the band was at its best. I thought the show had some great moments and believe me, I'm all for a no set list, wing it as it goes, jammy show. I live for that type of thing. When that happens and there is a degree of uncertainty, there can be a lot of trial and error. I hope to see more of this, because the greatest moments usually blossom out of taking the most risks.

It looked like they were playing to a setlist early on. Then when they were planning to bring Buddy Guy out he wasn't ready, so they decided to go with Can't Lose What You Never Had.

Butch posted on the Moogis site:

We rehearsed with Taj and Levon's people Monday. Tuesday was just winging it. We talked over the tunes before the show but then we just counted them off and held on for dear life. Last night was the same. We will be rehearsing for tonight. Check it out. I think you might like it.
