Wikipedia says the first album was released on 11/4/69. Haven't been able to confirm that date via other websites (I'm also working & don't have any of my ABB books with me to reference). Can anyone confirm this? You can't always trust the Wiki

I'm sure the first album was released way before 1969....

Right from the discography on this here site!!!
1970 Allman Brothers Band Idlewild South
1969 Allman Brothers Band The Allman Brothers Band
Recording DateSeptember, 1969 (from AllMusic.com) so November release date seems right

I am pretty sure that is an inaccurate date because Idlewild South came out in Jan. of 1970. That seems too quick for a group to put out albums so closely together. I beleve it was earlier in 1969, like March or April.

Wikipedia says Idlewild South was released September 23 of 1970. I think both of the dates mentioned in this thread are accurate. They're pretty easy to find out and the Wiki entry sources "Skydog" and "One Way Out."

The first albim was recorded inn NYC i6 days in early August 1969. The Allman Brothers Band was released in November 1969. Idlewild South was recorded over a 7 month period (3 different studios in Miami, Macon and NYC). Recording was finished by the end of July 1970. It was released in September 1970.
