Thread: Fake ticket question

filmmajor - 10/27/2014 at 02:56 PM

Hey,

Can anyone tell me if tonight and Tuesday nights tickets say "Coca-Cola Concert Series" on the tickets under the New York City?

A guy sent me a pic of his Loge seats he wants to sell me but they don't match my ticket from March. But, since they were printed at different times I am not sure.

This is the pic he sent me. Look legit anyone?

tumbleweed - 10/27/2014 at 03:21 PM

Fake ......remember, they increased the pricing for the final two shows ...........from TM website:

ORCHESTRA
US $100.99 - US $200.99
US $100.99 Ticket + US $18.90 Fees =
US $119.89 US $200.99 Ticket + US $28.80 Fees =
US $229.79

LOGE**FIRST LEVEL ABOVE ORCHESTRA
US $200.99
US $200.99 Ticket + US $28.80 Fees =
US $229.79

BALCONY
US $100.99 - US $150.99
US $100.99 Ticket + US $18.90 Fees =
US $119.89 US $150.99 Ticket + US $26.00 Fees =
US $176.99

tumbleweed - 10/27/2014 at 03:23 PM

Also the June 24th date is too early ......I think they went on sale in July or August........

Jig - 10/27/2014 at 03:28 PM

Total fake

TheGuru - 10/27/2014 at 03:30 PM

Price is wrong and tickets did not go on sale until July 8th and July 11th.

Thanks that's what I thought. Guy's CL posting is here. He says he's a fan and is going tonight and tomorrow. I can post his cell number too.

I am staying off Craigslist. I am going to try and find a fan outside tonight or StubHub. I have never been burned by a fake but this seems to be the time it might happen.

lisaant - 10/27/2014 at 04:05 PM

I spoke to the same guy who sent me the same pic
I got a bad vibe immediately. I had a pic someone sent me of tix I didn't buy and compared...they didn't match...stay away from that guy Keith@!!!!! he is not a fan@@

Seriously. I reached out to one person on CL, and the answers were so shady and vague. Didn't even try to really fool me.

MisterBluebirdd - 10/27/2014 at 04:33 PM

I don't think the price is incorrect. I have a (pre-sale) Loge 3, Row G ticket for 10/27 and the face value is 150.99.

But the date on mine is 6AUG14.

Also - The barcode is what really counts. A real ticket with an invalidated barcode won't get you in the door. But a fake ticket with a real, valid barcode will. Ticket takers are now "ticket scanners".

I have the same thing on my Tues tickets, got them off of StubHub. They look legit to my eyes.

abbmountainjam - 10/27/2014 at 04:53 PM

It has so many differences compared to my upper balcony real ticket. Mainly the logo in the center is too large and the print with sections seat etc cover part of the design. My real ticket has a smaller design with NO print anywhere over the logo design. Also under New York City on real tickets is the logo for the Coca Cola concert series absent on this ticket. Also it has the ticketmaster rating wrong. It says 1x. No way Row D of loge center is considered the best seat in the house. Row A loge center would be more like 14x or something. 1x would be front row center, a far cry from Row D loge. Barcode design is also too large, real barcode is smaller and of course never show the barcode in a pic as it can be copied and scanned. Also it says includes $5.00 facility charge. That too is wrong. Under the date at the bottom is 'Price includes all applicable taxes' and under the time 8:00pm it says 'no refunds no exchange'. Hope this helps anyone who might be looking at tix.

tag988 - 10/27/2014 at 05:03 PM

These are tickets i used for Tues. and Weds. One is original ticket from march that was honored. The other is a re-issue from tickemaster. There are big differences. Legit (i entered with both)

filmmajor - 10/27/2014 at 05:17 PM

The first thing that threw me off was he was missing the "Coca-Cola Concert Series" on the ticket. I have seen those on every ticket so far. This one is missing it.

When I texted him back about it being a fake he just didn't respond. So I assume he was not selling a real ticket.

allstaralk - 10/27/2014 at 05:22 PM

I just got sent a photo from craigslist of a ticket that looks like your "fake" as well. It also is missing the coca cola concert series under the logo, it happens to be seat 108 and 109 but orchestra and the print date was also jun24. What do we think?

At this point I wouldn't trust anyone selling on Craigslist but that's just my 2 cents.

I posted that pic on CL warning people to beware of fakes.

Pete - 10/27/2014 at 05:42 PM

I don't know if it was the camera used to take the pics but the ticket Filmmajor posted looks more "grainy" than the ones tag998 posted.

allstaralk - 10/27/2014 at 05:49 PM

I just want to see them one more time!!! :/ this sucks..

Bros4ever - 10/27/2014 at 05:59 PM

Sat night I was approached to buy tics by two different guys both were loge seats . The place is swarming with con artists ..Buy from Stub Hub if you really want to go .. Do not buy off the street I saw more than one person get ripped off Sat .. You get wrapped up in the excitement of it all , and being the last shows and all dont do it! .. I've never seen it as bad as I did Saturday . Two men told The police they were just ripped off and pointed out the guys and all the police do is tell them to get lost ..they walk around the block and come right back . They are BS artists so they sound very convincing .. I wouldnt take the chance .

Navagator - 10/27/2014 at 06:02 PM

If you do buy off the street make sure the seller will walk in with you or at least walk up to the door until the ticket is scanned. There actually could be a real fan or two that may have a ticket to sell.

Thanks, thanks, thanks... This guy had me on the hook until I saw your Craigslist Post. Still don't have a ticket for tonight but I'm not ripped off.. Really nice of you to take the time to help others, you saved me...

tag988 - 10/27/2014 at 06:13 PM

I was able to get the barcode number of the ticket at hand. I'm going to dig around and see if there is any way to verify the code.

I am very happy you didn't get scammed.

Keep in mind it could be a legit bar code but a fake ticket. A scammer could make dozens of tickets with the same bar code.

JBNYC - 10/27/2014 at 06:19 PM

A few other things i noticed, in case you come across other tickets:
The legend at the bottom is off("$5.00 facility fee" on the fake - real ticket says: "price includes all applicable taxes")
The colors are off on the writing above the logo and the 45th anniversary logo (among other things, the letters have black outlines on the real ticket and the interior of the logo is not shaded in)
Missing the "no refund, no exchange" language at the bottom of the ticket
As others have said, Coca cola concert series language is missing.

I included a link to a scan of my ticket from March below

Navagator - 10/27/2014 at 06:26 PM

This fake ticket also says "45th Anniversary TOUR". None of the real tickets that I have seen have the word "TOUR."

tag988 - 10/27/2014 at 06:28 PM

Good eye Nav. The words "Anniversary Tour" also "BUTT-UP" against 1969-2014 which is not on any real tickets i've seen.

kdick - 10/27/2014 at 06:48 PM

Because the tix were all printed in different runs and many date back to March there are many differences in regard what they look like. The bottom line is the bar code - period.

The pricing is not an issue depending on who issued the tix. We had the same tix for both nights issued from the ABB touring office and the Friday tix had 150.99 while the Sat tix had 500.00.

The big scam by the way, which a friend that did not listen to me got hosed on is the I lost my ticket can you email me a replacement. Once that has been done the bar code on the actual physical ticket is now defunct. They bought two Row D Orch for Sat for 200 each and they were of course bogus. Craig's list, and any private seller should not be trusted unless you know them. The re-sellers at least will provide a 100% refund guarantee if the tix are no good. Stubhub is the best option.

Keep in mind that the crooks know that we are all looking for a way in as the two shows approach and can easily get an account here to scam.

Caveat Emptor yall!!

kdick - 10/27/2014 at 06:53 PM

What Fridays ABB touring office tix looked like. Took this pick at Papperdella after we picked them up.

Stagerli - 10/27/2014 at 11:34 PM

I think some of these are real tickets just barcode not good as either turned in when date changed or already downloaded to someone else which then kills the hard copy. My tickets look just like all of these for sat did not say coca cola but rest looks legit did not scan we were burned as were many others we saw milling around. Either they go to the show with you or don't buy them
