Thread: Cameras allowed at the Beacon?

The Beacon official website states that "35mm" cameras are allowed with the performers permission. Does anyone know if the the venue security is allowing detachable lens cameras through?

I asked last year and was told by security that cameras with detachable lenses were not allowed, so I brought a point-and-shoot. I see SLRs, but I think those people might have passes for them.

The Beacon website camera rules are different from what was posted last year. Their site specifically says "35 mm" is allowed. Whatever that means. I haven't shot 35 mm film in over 8 years. The camera I have has a detachable lens. Last year I walked right in with it slung over my shoulder, I didn't try to hide it and they never said anything. Then during the break, security comes over and aggressively asks how I brought it in, ripped my ticket stub and told me to put it away.

How has security been this year? Are they heavy handed bully enforcers or are they more gently accomodating?

I have the. Canon SX30IS which is a nice digital camera with a non-detachable zoom lens and had no problem bringing it in on several occasions

I have a fairly good digital with not a detachable lens. I only take it when I am SURE its ok. Like what would I do if security told me I couldn't bring it in? I take public transportation so my three options would be 1) Blow off the concert (not). 2) Try to "hide" the camara outside somewhere on the hope it would still be there when I get back, or just wait ten minutes and try to get in again using another security point.

From what I have seen, I believe, that as long as the lens in not a detachable lens you should be ok..

I would not try to hide it & I would def. not leave the camera somewhere outside and hope that it would be there after the show, it is NYC after all

worse comes to worse take out the memory card & let them hang onto that till after the show or something, but like i said i dont think you will have any problem at all.

here is a pic of what i took in with me, wearing it around my neck & had no problem at all..

enjoy the show..
