Thread: Please Help the True Fans

FDNYPeachFan - 1/6/2012 at 04:56 PM

I hope someone close to the band is here, reading the troubles related to the purchase of Beacon Tickets.

There are a great deal of inconsistencies with the availability of tickets for this years Beacon run. It's gotten increasingly difficult to purchase tickets, however, this year has been by far the worst. While I was able to buy tickets for a show this year, it was not without issue and I was not able to purchase those that I wanted. No matter that I was ready and willing to shell out $150.00, no tickets were available in that price bracket.

-Tickets in the 6th row orchestra left cost $500.

-A fan pre-sale somehow resulted in StubHub having almost 5,000 tickets, some of them are marked at 53x face value!

-$100 gets you seats in the back corner of the Loge only 2 minutes after the on-sale time.

What are we fans supposed to read into this? Tickets are only available for the super wealthy? Are they only available to corporations or those on the inside?

The loyal fan deserves the chance to buy tickets. I feel a little silly fighting for the ability to spend $150.00 on tickets, but I guess that's what it's come to.

Ticket prices have gone up, availability has gone down and here we all are, some of us looking to see the brothers for our 50th time (and then some), but we can't even get a decent seat when we try to buy tickets at the very moment they go on sale.

I think we should all be ecstatic today, having secured our seat to the ABB, but somehow today leaves a bitter taste...

I have had trouble getting tix for the Beacon, too. I've been an ABB fan for over thirty years, and own most all of their cd's. Every year I hope that the ABB will come to the West Coast, and they rarely ever do, and for whatever reason I've never been able to attend a show out west. A few years ago, I registered with ticketmaster and this site to get tour notifications, and never got any. I re-registered this fall hoping to get good tix to a Beacon show, and take my family on a trip to NYC with highlight of the ABB show. I'm looking at a 4 day trip with hotel and flights to NYC from Fresno around $3500. I was not notified by the Peach Corps until after the presale was over. I stumbled onto the Beacon run and did get some Amex tix for 3/16 in the upper balcony...the best I could get for four together. I tried this AM at 0700 PST to get better tix on 3/16, and there were O available. So here I am a longtime fan, spending $4k on a trip to see the ABB from the upper balcony. Your comments about this and the prompt listing of tix for sale by the "fans" who got great tix leaves a very bad taste in my mouth, too...

I too got screwed by TicketBASTARD today ......Tried on line and over the phone and could not even get a sniff at a pair ANYWHERE in the theatre for 3/16 or 3/17.

Here's a thought .....why not set up the ABB 'Fan Club' pre sale as follows:

All tickets must be picked up by the purchaser .....no exceptions. If you buy the tickets, you must pick them up. You must possess the actual credit card and drivers license. I'm sure that would throw a major wrench into about 4000 of those Stub Hub tickets .........

jbpats0823 - 1/6/2012 at 06:29 PM

Unfortunately this is a battle that goes far beyond ABB Beacon tickets.

I feel the ABB should have a fan club yearly subscription like other artists, this will eliminate the scum who somehow gets the password and extorts ticket prices. Or the people who join the club two days before just to get the presale password. Also everybody would get a unique password to use... i think it is the best method.
I have been a member of the Brad Paisley Fan club for over 5 years and not once have I received tickets beyond the first five rows from the stage.

I think mostly everyone on this forum who frequents consistently would have no problem paying $25 for a yearly membership, get some cheap crap as a reward and guaranteed tickets to shows you want to see.

Hey FDNYPeachFan,
Are you saying that almost 5,000 tix were on sale @ stubhud during "pre-sale"??????
If so, no wonder there were only scraps leftover during my pre-sale search.
For that matter, there were only scraps at 10:01 at tixmaster.
I've been a Bro fan for many, many years.
Like you, this tix situation has left a bitter taste.

frank1708 - 1/6/2012 at 09:06 PM

Please forward this to the band.

We, true fans are getting passed over.

Online today like the rest of us at 10 am, finally got a pair for 3/09, great bought the then because we travel from out of town tried to get them for 3/10. well got a pair. wow, not great seats but youknow what in the building and on the floor. 1 hour later get a phone call from the beacon/madison square garden and am informed that my seats were handicap access and I needed to provide the name of the person handcapped. No handicap person in my pair so EVEN THOUGH THEY RELEASED THE SEATS BY MISTAKE, they cancelled my order and said sorry sold out, you will have to find seats for those nights on my own.

Thank god for stubhub.............My 115.00 seats were right there for over 695.00 a piece!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELP US THIS IS NOT FAIR.....We buy the albums , we buy the tshirts we buy the live cd's...

Please help the little guy....Cant believe it, First year since they started this over a decade ago I won't be able to see them

Problem with those restrictions is i've sold/given tickets to friend/family at the last minute for may reasons such as change in plans/illness. Fights of scalpers but can also make legitimate situations very difficult

tumbleweed - 1/6/2012 at 09:46 PM

I hear you emr .......I just found it effective when I saw the Stones at the Beacon ....

TomP - 1/6/2012 at 09:46 PM

There was virtually nothing available on Ticketmaster today.
There is obviously a SCAM going on, and I hope The Allman Brothers Band will address the issue.
This is not just scalpers getting tickets, and re-selling.
There was NOTHING available. MAJOR TICKETMASTER SCAM!

That was the ticket of the century - would have gone to that one if I got it even if it was like Weekend with Bernie

I was very fortunate. Actually had the Halloween show that was postponed by a night to allow Mick's voice to rest / recover. Show was AMAZING .........

NYCScammer - 1/7/2012 at 04:27 PM

If every one who posts here about the Ticketmaster Scam also notifies the NY Attorney Generals Office about this maybe they will address the issue. I'm going to send a complaint and see what happens. I don't expect an answer, but I might as well give it a shot. The amount of tickets on Stub Hub before the General Sale started was ridiculous and should be partial proof that a ticket scam run by TM is ongoing.

I got a set of 4 in the Lower Balcony on Thursday after being offered nothing I was interested in from the start of the presale. The Amex presale was horrible but I finally hit in the Fan Club presale. I'm hoping the ABB add more shows because I normally buy for three shows. I won't buy from a scalper but will be checking in the Spare Tickets Forum and Craigslist for someone selling at Face Value.

Good luck to all who got snookered by TM. Thanks to the Lana and all involved in the presale, they take a lot of time to arrange things and bounce people out who somehow got tickets they should not have.

Be safe.

Soulshine99 - 1/7/2012 at 04:34 PM

Tell me where to write a complaint and I'm with you.

NYCScammer - 1/7/2012 at 05:41 PM

I couldn't find an Online Form. This one is fillable, after you fill it out print it and send it in.
I'm going to do my complaint about TM after I sign off here.

Thanks for posting this link!! I've already filled it out and printed it. Off to the Atty General it goes!

Junkin8ez - 1/9/2012 at 12:22 PM

I may be wrong but I think there is a loop hole for the scalpers. The sale of tickets can not happen from within NY state when they are sold. Check to see where the scalpers are located.Conn, NJ, CA, NV, ETC.

NYCScammer - 1/9/2012 at 04:59 PM

I think that the Ticket Scalping laws that relate to selling tickets at high prices are no longer on the books in NY.

The complaint that a lot of people had was that during the pre-sale for ABB Fan Club Members and American Express Clients, there were limited tickets available to purchase on line, but, there were thousands of tickets available on Stub Hub and other ticketing sites. In the Real World the tickets should have been available to Amex and Fan Club Members but were not. Lets remember that the amount of tickets you can buy during the pre-sale is stictly limited, so how did so many tickets wind up at Stub Hub and the ticketing agencies if these limits are being enforced?

It seems that TM is selling to Scalpers and Ticketing Agencies during the pre-sale and they should not be doing so. At least thats what I think the complaint was.

Be safe.

OriginalGoober - 1/10/2012 at 02:14 PM

Oil, electricity, tickets, it seems that the same game is being played over and over- create an artificial issue by restriciting supply in order to cause prices (profits) to rise and only certain suppliers benefit. The little guy gets screwed over and over everywhere he turns if he chooses to buy at the wrong time or is desperate. The Beacon has been an annual event for me since the '90's but I have bowed out after the 40th anniversary event. The prices have really shot up and although I can afford it, its too much to drop on a 2 hour concert.
