Thread: Talking smooth and saying nothing...

RBK - 7/22/2009 at 10:49 AM

Continuing with yet another 'talking smooth and saying nothing' performance, our Dear Leader takes to the tube tonight to give rehearsed answers to pre-determined 'questions' in a so-called press conference wherein he will attempt to justify SPENDING trillions of dollars in order to SAVE money. The schtick is getting old as I said it would. Those preferring not to have their intelligence insulted, I would suggest walking the dog or reading PJ O'Rourke's "Driving Like Crazy."

With any luck, BarryO won't be able to nationalize 17% of the American economy anymore than he can create peace on earth by handing out iPods filled with his speeches to dictators and despots. Eventually even BarryO is going to have to realize his grandiose delusions are just that - and then things could get really ugly.

RBK - 7/22/2009 at 11:15 AM

Or, rather than listen to another phony press conference, I would suggest Bill Frisell's wonderful new album, "Disfarmer." Judas Priest's new live album or the latest from Jordin Sparks would be likewise be less of an insult to the intelligent than BarryO's contrivance du jour this evening.

RBK - 7/22/2009 at 02:12 PM

Talkin' smooth and sayin' nuthin'

SAYIN' NUTHIN!'

Even a large contingent of his own party appears to think BarryO is out of his mind.

RBK - 7/22/2009 at 05:42 PM

Interesting. I see a lot of the usual snarkey deflections on the part of the Obamabots but no one seems to be defending him anymore. They certainly aren't pointing out his successes.

mbtogo4 - 7/22/2009 at 05:45 PM

Stay tuned he will part the sea shortly........

RBK - 7/22/2009 at 05:51 PM

Do you suppose he'll call on anybody whose question hasn't been submitted via e-mail 48 hours in advance and the answer thoroughly rehearsed?

alloak41 - 7/22/2009 at 06:02 PM

A junior Senator with scant experience and no real accomplishments defeats another junior Senator to win the nomination -- then gets elected. We got what we deserved.

Indeed and some of us have earned the right to say, "I told you so," everyday. Every single day.

BIGV - 7/22/2009 at 06:22 PM

Talking smooth and saying nothing...

Reminds me of another President form the past, George W.Bush, who also managed to say nothing...but mangled the King's English in doing so.

Wow. That guy from Michigan is so desperate for attention that he bumped
his own thread up at 7:15 am, 10:12 am, and 1:42 pm.

Pure comedy gold.

RBK - 7/22/2009 at 07:53 PM

Do you suppose Dear Leader has memorized the answers to all of the questions at tonight's presser? Or will he rehearse right up until 8pm?

Slimzimm - 7/22/2009 at 08:28 PM

LoL, brings back memories of the "Bush Back Bulge" during the 2004 debates.

He has been president for less than six months. You, RBK are just too eager to see him fail. I am a Republican and feel that it's just not enough time to judge ANY President. Hell, after 6 months...I thought W was doing a great job, look how that turned out.

I don't know but I do know that "If you donít stand for anything, you donít stand for anything". GW said so while doing his own brand of smooth talking (I hope to God he did not memorize that one...)

He's blatantly attempting to turn a once great nation into Venezuela or France. You're damned right I want him to fail and I'll cheerfully admit I've wanted him to fail since the day he took the oath. If you were actually a Republican you'd want him to fail as well. For the sake of the country he MUST fail if he continues down this radical left path. Fortunately, more and more citizens are being to see what many of us knew all along.

Exactly.

What I don't get is this...if we are indeed heading off a destructive precipice, then how is smugly standing by and watching it happen any kind of respectable responsive action? Just for the satisfaction of saying "I told you so?" For instance, if Sotomayor represents such a radical left turn on the SCOTUS, then why not filibuster her? If the economic policies or the helthcare policies or any of the policies are so bad, why not fight them to the nth degree? Why not offer alternatives? John Boehner said almost four months ago that the GOP would present a comprehensive alternative financial reform plan. None came forth. The GOP also promised a comprehensive alternative helathcare reform plan. None have come forth.

This attitude...

"It's all gonna burn down, you liberal traitors, you're gonna destroy this country and we are gonna watch it happen!"

I don't get it. At all. Particularly coming from the people that claim that they love our country more than anyone else.

Peachypetewi - 7/23/2009 at 02:23 PM

There is no true Left wing in this country. There are moderate right wingers and far right wing extremist nut jobs. Kucinich is the only left winger I can think of.

I never said I want the country to fail. I said I want BarryO's leftist radical agenda to fail - and I stand by that. Don't put words in my mouth and then chastise me for what I didn't say. It's an old, and highly transparent, liberal trick I realize but it's wasted on me.

Peachypetewi - 7/23/2009 at 05:07 PM

First off he's not a leftist radical. Other than Dennis Kucinich there are no leftist radicals on the American political scene. There are 3 categories of politicians. 1.) Moderate Republicrats like Obama, 2.) Right Wing Republicans like Boehner and Graham and Extreme Right Wing Nut Job republicans like Sarah Palin.

I listened to the entire news conference. I heard it, as well. The President is brilliant. He answered all questions. It was a wonderful experience. One that I have not had in many, many, many years. Jimmy Carter used to tell the truth. Lots of people do not like Jimmy Carter. I do. President Obama told us somany truths last night. We only have to listen and hear. People can tell when the truth is being told to them, if they listen, if they hear. I like what I heard. I heard truths.

Say what you want.

The man has control of the language and he does say something, when he speaks. I like that in a person, especially a President.

And your point is what? I've been saying ''I told you so'' for months now. I don't need to wait for BarryO to screw up. As I said, I can't keep up with the "I told you sos" as it is. And what's truly amusing, in your collective huffs to call me out on saying "I told you so," not a single one of you Obamabots can deny that I am in fact correct about the Immaculate One.
