Thread: Should I retire SIBWLKR

sibwlkr - 2/23/2010 at 05:26 PM

Well my Virginia tags expire the end of the month, so I need to get NC tags. Now my Virginia tags were personalize tags with the name "SIBWLKR" on them, and SIBWLKR was a reference to the fact that many people in Virginia knew me from walking my Siberian Husky, Thor. Truth be told, more people knew Thor by his name than they knew me by my name (I was pretty much known as "Thor's Dad"). Anyway, for those that don't know, Thor recently passed away and the title of SIBWLKR no longer seems all that fitting. So I considering changing my name on this site. Don't think Lana or Rowland will let me have my old "cleaneduphippy" name back, so I guess I need to either keep "sibwlkr" or come up with another name and was curious what some y'all might think in what direction I should go in?

Bhawk - 2/23/2010 at 05:31 PM

Aww, man, Fred. That sucks about Thor. Sorry to hear that.

How about "olderbutwiserhippy"

Well I'm certainly "older", but not so sure of the "wiser" part.

SantaCruzBluz - 2/23/2010 at 05:34 PM

That's up to you, Fred, though it sounds like you already know. I think Lana can let you keep your stats when you change your name if you ask her to. Sorry to hear about Thor. Our animals are only with us a short time, though I believe the same animal spirit can come to us more than once in a lifetime. Interesting reading about animal reincarnation on the web.

Sorry about Thor. Hope the truck driver thing is working out. How about Fred_Trucker. or Truckin_Fred.

I'd say the same...

I don't know the history, but if Cleaneduphippy was banned and Sibwalker represents a kindler gentler you here, then you definitely keep it in tribute to the dog and your own ability to change.

Well then how about "oldergrumpierhippy"?

lonomon - 2/23/2010 at 06:42 PM

As a side note, I love that monkey squeezing off rounds from his sidearm. It makes me giggle.

Yup, that's what I was gonna say too.

Maybe change it to something with Thor's name in it?

PhotoRon286 - 2/23/2010 at 10:26 PM

I'm sorry you lost Thor.

I miss my Husky Amundsen every day.

They are beautiful dogs

lolasdeb - 2/24/2010 at 12:38 AM

Fred, I lost my Lola last fall and I've got a new girl now that I belong to, Punkin, but I'm still Lolasdeb. I've never felt the need to change that as it still applies ... just sharing my heart now with another 4-legged friend.

Even though your doggie is gone, it still would remind you of him and all the joy he brought to your life.

Our dog is 11 and when she isn't feeling well, I wonder how much longer we'll have her around. They can bring so much joy to your life. I wouldn't change it as a tribute to your companion.

origapch - 2/24/2010 at 06:13 PM

I'm sorry to hear about Thor. I know how much he meant to you.

It's been a long time since our paths have crossed.

I've always known you as just.... Fred.

BigDaveOnBass - 2/24/2010 at 06:20 PM

Hey Fred. Keep SIBWLKR, but if you do change it, how about ThorsFred, a la LolasDeb?

rainy - 2/24/2010 at 06:36 PM

So sorry about your dog...

I would keep the name you have.. sibwlkr...
