What a great show. It was well worth the drive from Chattanooga to Knoxville. Anyone who gets a chance needs to check them out live, it's a fun high energy show.

They are playing Atlanta Sunday night at the Variety Playhouse, Whoo Hoo!

LUCKY LUCKY YOU!

I'm seeing them next week and just can't wait.

The energy is like nothing I have ever experienced.

He's in Charlotte tonight. Unfortunately, I have something else planned!

So last year at mountain jam he brings up this guy to play sax. I figure...cool. Well it turns out that this sax player (a young man) had recently lost his 2 year old daughter to some sort of infirmary(can't remember what). Michael starts playing this tune on acoustic guitar accompanied by the sax player who was very emotional as you could all imagine well before this song was over I for one had shed a tear..... just because of the human connection. That for me is what Franti can do. He puts so much of himself in the music you can't but help to get cought up in it. He puts on a great show and I look forward to seeing him again at this years jam.

I'm glad to hear this He is the headline at the McDowell Mtn. festival here in AZ Hot Tuna and the New Riders are also on the bill I was kind of bummed the tuna was not headlining but I will go with an open mind and antisipation

Hey Rebel Rockers! Michael Franti at Ram's Head Live in Baltimore this Saturday. Tickets are still available. I've got an iPod I.V. of Franti going getting pumped for the show.

If you get a chance to see Michael Franti, don't miss him. Seen him twice at Greenbelt festival (Christian/Ethical UK Festival) and also at a smallish venue in Bristol where I pulled a muscle. That'll teach this 53 yrold to jump with the kids! Well actually it probably won't because his music is so infectious you can't help it!

Check out his DVD "I know I'm not alone". Very moving.

did you play the Michael Franti Drinking Game? Every time he asks "how you feelin" you have to drink.

looking forward to MMMF as well. I think Hot Tuna and Railroad Earth will steal the show.

i went to see Franti last year at Freebirds. i was really excited cuz i love the dudes vibe (anyone who can jam out the Seasme Street theme is cool with me). he was good, but the venue is awful and i didnt enjoy it much. Plus the stage was too small for him to stand on his head.

I was also at the Michael Franti and Spearhead show in Knoxville. I really enjoyed it. It was my first time seeing them, and I will definitely see them again.

Hopefully he comes back soon. That was my first time at the Valirium, that's a pretty cool place to see a show.

BIGV - 2/26/2009 at 03:48 AM

I caught these guys at Aspen Jazz fest in the summer of '07.

Very entertaining...
