DELANEY BRAMLETT - HEALTH UPDATE
Delaney needs the prayers and positive thoughts of all of his friends & fans at this time. He is struggling to recover from his recent gallbladder surgery. If everyone sends their healing love for him maybe it will give him the extra strength he needs to pull through. You all mean so much to him. With deep appreciation, Susan.

Update:

DELANEY BRAMLETT -THE LATEST NEWS

DELANEY remains at UCLA hospital a prisoner to tubes & his room. The good news is he continues to heal. The most amazing part of this entire ordeal, is that he maintains his incredible sense of humor & contagious charm. The nurses visit on a constant basis when they are off-duty just to hang out...hear his music when he has it on, & be entertained. He's generally with pad & pencil in hand writing music & lyrics...can't wait to see what comes out of this experience - talk about the blues!!!!!

Anyway, words cannot express the gratitude we both feel for our friends, prayers, love & support.

It's so important to mention the tireless efforts of Delaney's amazing doctors at UCLA: DR. SALEY, DR. GOLDSTEIN, DR. DEEP SINGH, & DR. SHIV (who was responsible for getting him admitted to UCLA), all the surgeons, nurses, caretakers, and our friend & family doctor, DR. DONALD PLANCE. These professionals approach medicine as if it were art. It is their music!!! By the way, many of them are into music themselves. We hear Dr. Goldstein plays a mean harmonica. They are all gifted, devoted, compassionate & talented beyond description. We have been blessed by the best in the world.

We've still got a tough road to go down. But with you all out there praying & sending us your love & positive blessings, AND THE BLESSINGS OF GOD, we will make it.

robslob - 7/25/2008 at 09:31 AM

Keep up the fight, Delaney, bro. You are at one of the very best medical centers in the world. You will pull through this.

Mr. Clapton, where are you? Take time from your busy schedule and visit Delaney Bramlett in his hospital bed. Clapton cited Delaney as one of his main musical influences in his biography.

big-ed09 - 7/25/2008 at 10:42 AM

I said a prayer for you today
and know God must have heard
I felt the answer in my heart, Although He spoke no words
I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind
I asked Him to send treasures of a far more lasting kind
I asked that He'd be near you at the start of each new day
To grant you health and blessings and friends to share your way
I asked for happiness for you in all things great and small
But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all.

Get Well soon brother Delaney

trublnomore - 7/25/2008 at 12:38 PM

Prayers and healing vibes going out....

A note from Susan!

DELANEY BRAMLETT'S NEWS MAKES IT SUSAN'S BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!

What a GREAT BIRTHDAY PRESENT!!! (MINE) We just got word that Delaney will be released from UCLA Hospital this coming Tues. He will do rehab near the ranch for a few days, then finally, finally return home.

What incredible proof of the power of prayer and love and friendship!!! I read to him each day all of your messages. Some of them were so inspiring & filled with adoration, that I would see tears rolling down his cheek. And the wonderful visits from old and new band members who have sat with him and taken him down memory lane and kept him laughing. He was thrilled when Jim Keltner (his former drummer) and Steve Bing visited (he hadn't seen Jim in sooo long), and his "ROCKS" who are always there for him, guitarist, Hank Barrio, and the great bass player, Chad Watson, & sweet, talented keyboardist, Dave Morgan (bringing wife, Alicia (fabulous singer), and great kids to visit, and the many many calls from the incredible guitarist, Mark Karan & wife, Maile from San Francisco or on the road with Rat Dog.

Chad called yesterday and asked what he could bring him, and I said anything with peaches. He loves peaches!!! (He had to live on ice chips for 6 weeks.) Chad walked in with an amazing peach pie & Delaney ate half of it last night. We decided to call him "Peaches Bramlett" from here on out.

And I want to thank the many DJ's like Larry Woodside & JaBeaux who continue to support the music on the air and who write or call for updates.

He still has some healing to do...but with your continued support & prayers...it'll be no time before we're back in the groove and puttin' out more music.

With heartfelt love and gratitude,

Susan

Delaney Bramlett is one of the most pivotal of musicians in steering me towards what I love to hear.
So, Delaney and Bonnie memories... Saw them open for Led Zeppelin at the Fillmore and was blown away. My Ma was from West Virginia and a lot of the songs she would sing to me were the old gospel numbers that D&B reintroduced me to. Got all their early albums but didn't realize the connection to Duane Allman til Motel Shot came out. It's still a regular on my playlist.
Caught a show at the Wollman Skating Rink in New York's Central Park in the summer of '70 (I guess) and Duane sat in with them. I had already become overly enamored with The ABB.
Left that show and went to wait on line at Madison Square Garden overnight for the Bangladesh concert (someone was passing around some orange juice so when they opened the box office at 2AM, although my friend Pattie and I were way up front in line, whatever was in that juice kinda slowed us down a bit and we didn't get very good seats.
My first job was as a secretary at ABC whose rock station, WPLJ, was giving WNEW a run for their money. I'd see DJ Dave Herman in the candy store in the lobby from time to time and beg him for tickets to the live shows the radio station was putting on from a record studio in NY (I think Elton John's 11/17/70 was the most famous). Anyway, I had begged my way into that night's D&B performance and damn if King Curtis, Gregg and Duane Allman didn't show up to play. Friend Pattie and I were on cloud nine.
So, when you see that picture of Bonnie wearing hot pants (she WUZ hot), with Delaney and Duane siitting on chairs playing Come On In My Kitchen (later released on Duane's second Anthology), my butt was stuck to the floor two or three feet away from Duane's boots while D&B harmonized one of the best songs I've ever heard and that slide bottle was whipping it's way up and down the frets of Duane's guitar. Lawdy lawdy Miss Clawdy.
Get well, Delaney, you loom large in my heart.

rainy - 8/1/2008 at 11:45 PM

Lizzie as always... wonderful memories from you and so eloquently written... I feel like I was there. Thanks for posting it...

))))) D E L A N E Y ((((((

Pastdreams - 8/2/2008 at 01:21 AM

I considered coming back on line and deleting the post because some folks see these stories as bragging. Then, I thought, what the eff, it's all true.
And it makes me smile. And if it makes you smile, then it's all worth it! Love you my dearest Rainy.

EasyMichael - 8/2/2008 at 05:57 PM

Bragging or not, and I don't believe it is, what a great story!

Pam, thank you for the updates on Delaney. Continue to get well, man!

sibwlkr - 8/2/2008 at 06:35 PM

Thoughts, prayers and very best wishes go out to Delaney on his continued healing.

TanDan - 8/2/2008 at 08:34 PM

Had his gallbladder burst, or something? What made this situation with Delaney so dire?

Wishing him well.
