fender31 - 1/5/2018 at 12:47 AM

I was supposed to be seeing Jaimoe's band this saturday in Albany,NY but I found out today the show got postponed due to Jaimoe having the flu.

Agerst1574 - 1/5/2018 at 01:34 AM

For years, I have averaged going to 50 shows a year and last year saw me going to only 37. As we now divide our time between Florida and NYC, I suspect it will be less this year. So far, I have the following:

1/9- Zombies, Parker Playhouse

1/14-Sunshine Music Fest with Tedeschi Trucks, Hot Tuna, Galactic, and others in Boca Raton

2/13-Willie Nelson and Los Lonely Boys, Pompano Beach Amphitheater

3/23-Robin Trower, New York Ethical Society

3/29-Drive By Truckers-Brooklyn Bowl

mikesolo - 1/5/2018 at 12:05 PM

So far have U2 and Foo Fighters at MSG and off to London for 2 Pearl Jam shows. I think that’s it for tickets so far but hope to add Dickey in NYC.

Forgot two more: G3 (Satriani) at The Beacon and The Dixie Dregs at Town Hall.

Just looking over calendar and found two more: Jools Holland at The Blue Note and Michael McDonald at The Tarrytown Music Hall

DarylM - 1/6/2018 at 07:25 PM

Nothing out of the city yet - Chuck Leavell, Judas Priest and Rod The Mod all
here in March. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill and Shania in June and July. You can
imagine which gig I'm most excited about!!

thetoweringfool - 1/7/2018 at 04:12 PM

Not many lined up...which is kind of nice. Hopefully scaling back this year for finance/time-sake. That said:

March-Dixie Dregs in downtown Charleston (exciting as hell, who knew they would tour again!)
April-Savannah Music Fest Finale (Isbell, Dave n Gill and TTB w/ many more GREAT, worldy artists on the same day?!?!?!) Unreal!
December-Will not miss Warren's 30th Christmas Jam. The 20th was probably the greatest night of music I ever experienced... the 25th was right there w/ it. So we can rest assured that a noteworthy year like the 30th will be extraordinary and probably a two-nighter.

Finally...I don't have high-hopes but I sure would like to see Dickey one more time. Hopefully in Macon, GA. Last time he played there was the last time I saw him and he absolutely smoked it and it was a tears in your eyes moment. He harnessed the spirit of The Brotherhood that night...I remember focusing on his signature rhythm style that was moving songs along behind soloists and it sounded so real. Even moreso than ABB at the time. He was so gracious he let my wife on his bus (alongside Mama Louise) and he signed Brothers n Sisters and Highway Call lp covers for her...

emr - 1/7/2018 at 04:27 PM

Sad to say that death and illness has so thinned out both my rotation and that of the mrs to an extend that nothing has yet been penned in

ladymule - 1/7/2018 at 06:47 PM

Sheepdogs in March

BrerRabbit - 1/8/2018 at 12:59 AM

Jethro Tull
Sarah Jarosz

The_Newt - 1/8/2018 at 06:32 PM

I have no idea I don't plan that far ahead, and some tours have yet to be announced.

Joe_the_Lurker - 1/8/2018 at 07:59 PM

With two little kids and the brand new minivan payment, I won't be seeing anybody this year.

To deal with this, I have decided to increase my concert DVD/BluRay collection for every concert I want to go to but can't afford. Like the Eagles. I got their Melbourne BluRay for $16.88 and that is a lot better than $500-600 for a pair of crap seats!

I hear ya. Plus my entertainment dollar is thin,I have been priced out long ago. I look for budget shows and etc.
I am waiting to see if Plant comes around.

PhotoRon286 - 1/8/2018 at 11:46 PM

Just announced today Devon Allman Band at the same former church in Homer that we saw one of Butch's last shows.

Fretsman - 1/10/2018 at 01:15 AM

Tinsley Ellis, Howie Day, Celebration For Gregg, Peter Wolf, Al DiMeola Duo, James Hunter, Brother Josephus, The High Kings, Robben Ford, and Dave Mason are all at the NY's City Winery (One of my alltime fav venues), but I'll be keeping an eye on a few tours, I love Audley Freed, CR may be a tendency to be an overbearing ass and I had no problem avoiding him, but Mr.Freed and Marcus King pairing has tweaked my interest. I caught AF with Andy Hess in The Sidemen. It was them with The Uptown Horns, Andy Aledort and others playing some classic music. Audley pops up all over. I saw Frampton on Long Island Tree Museum a few years back and who's there Audley, I watch a few of these gala Tribute shows and a steady ace is Mr.Freed. I remember a Rich Robinson interview where he was asked about the Tour with Jimmy Page and he reply was it was easy, Audley figured out all the guitar parts and showed me mine. He talked nicely about his ear. The 2 Sussex NJ festivals (the Ribs and Crawfish) are most likely going to happen. Tab Benoit, Samantha Fish, Taj, and others will be at the Crawfish Fest while it'll have a Southern feel to the Rock, Ribs, & Ridges 2 day campfest. I'm hoping for Dickey to fill a Saturday Night closer. I'm most likely retiring in Sept, I may move to the Sarasota/Osprey area. I am trying to enjoy the quad state area show schedules while I can. It's gonna be a good year.

linus - 1/10/2018 at 03:39 PM

Just had an email from Jason Isbell's folks that he's touring with Richard Thompson. I'm going to travel to see that. The TTB/DBT/Marcus King is a must see

JimSheridan - 1/10/2018 at 06:59 PM

I had sworn off seeing shows this year to save some cash............... but I am weak!!!

The first show that I am springing for is the Genesis tribute band The Musical Box at Ridgefield Playhouse in May. I have seen them plenty of times, but my teenager has fallen for their music, even learning some of their stuff on piano, and I am so eager for the kid to see this band. It will be excellent.

We will see if I can resist seeing Steve Hackett. He is playing so well, but I have seen him twice in the past 3 years.

The Wheels of Soul should have been a shoo-in, but that night is my other kid's birthday. I have seen TTB a bunch, but I also think they are the best band going, and that is a heck of a triple bill. if they announce another semi-local date, like Bethel Woods, I may jump on that.

DeadMallard - 1/11/2018 at 03:29 AM

What is the easiest way to track who is touring and where they will do shows?

Going to every band website isn't feasible and too many venues in my town to keep checking them?

Any suggestions?

Okay I see some apps and websites that assist in doing this ....

robslob - 1/11/2018 at 04:15 AM

Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers is the one that peaks my interest: Friday June 1st, Shoreline Amphitheatre. Tickets go on sale this Friday at noon. It's a national tour. I don't think the Dan will sound much different without Walter Becker, after all he never to my knowledge sang anyway. They just replaced him with another guitar player. But his imprint is ALL over the music, forever!

jambase.com is pretty good, it allows you to search based on a radius from your town or any town that you pick. You can also search based on artists or venue. you can add the shows to your "jambase" calendar and then sync that calendar with your personal digital calendar.

the only down side is that the shows are user/band/venue added, so certainly not everything that you may be interested in will be on there but its a good start.

DeadMallard - 1/12/2018 at 03:47 AM

Thanks Breezy & a_shell

Last week I seen Queens of the Stoneage with Josh's other band Eagles of Death Metal open... was a very good show and Eagles of.... are a very fun band to see live!

Also have tix to The Breeders, Uli Jon Roth, Uriah Heep, Jack White, Charlie Musslewhite with Ben Harper and The Foo Fighters.

Had to miss Drive By Truckers last week due to it being on my sister's Birthday.

Sadly TTB didn't play here last year and not booked yet for this tour... hoping they do play here!

fender31 - 2/4/2018 at 12:05 PM

I may be going to see the Foo Fighters this summer at Fenway park.

joyful_noise - 2/5/2018 at 06:12 AM

So far we are keeping it simple this year.

TTB/DTB/Marcus King
Foo Fighters
Dead and Co.
Jeff Lynn's ELO

I am sure we will add a few more.

The concert experience is now so expensive, we have scaled down our touring schedule to just a few shows.

JimSheridan - 2/5/2018 at 05:04 PM

The Musical Box at Ridgefield Playhouse.

Steve Hackett at Tarrytown Music Hall.

Very excited for both! I am taking my son, who is getting good on keyboards. These shows will be an education for sure.
