Thread: The Manchurian DJ

BrerRabbit - 10/5/2017 at 04:36 PM

Don't know, but sometimes it almost seems like there is a DJ from hell in my mind, spinning tunes custom-picked to piss me off, awful songs by artists I loathe. Was in line at a restaurant a while back, there was a couple behind me - the guy was humming some godawful thing, maybe Hackensackackackack or I'm Sailing Away or worse . . . I turned around and said, hey I do that too, I bet you hate that song - he said you're right and laughed, his wife groaned and said he does that ALL THE TIME, drives me nuts. So I ended up sitting by them, it was one of those sushi-go-round places where the sushis go by on a conveyor, well he kept humming brutal pop tunes, and at one point I just started cracking up, didn't say anything. They left, and when I went to check out it turned out they had paid my ticket.

Had to post because it happened yesterday and baffled me, a song I had not heard or thought of in forty plus years started up in my skull, had to spin some ABB to combat tbe program.

Him - Rupert Holmes . . .( the mind has no mercy ! Him? Why?)

Other attacks:

Bop With You Baby - Dan Seals (this one has barbs, very hard to remove)

Yummy Yummy Yummy - 1910 Fruitgum Company

Dizzy - Tommy Roe

Sky High - Jigsaw Puzzle

And so on . . . harmless brain reflex, or sinister forces at work?

Here is one I get out of nowhere, and it really pisses me off: Shania Twain "That Don't Impress Me Much". OUCH!!!

I had the whole family together the other night, we were playing a game and for some reason Bird is the Word popped into my head and I started singing it. Boy did they get pissed, which only made me sing it more. The madder they got, the harder I laughed.
