Thread: If you can go to Les Brers in Macon I think you should

AlPaul - 3/23/2016 at 01:28 AM

If anyone is within shooting distance of Macon, I'd head down there for one or both of the Les Brers shows WEds/Thursday. I spoke to Jack P briefly today and he was raving about the rehearsals. Jack doesn't rave much

BoytonBrother - 3/23/2016 at 02:44 AM

they were by far the highlight of the Peachfest. They blew everyone away. What's the word on a tour?

upton_ogoode - 3/23/2016 at 02:59 AM

Going out on a limb here, but Jack rates rehearsing right up there with surgery without anesthetic. If he's feeling good about a rehearsal, then there may be some knee dipping and left leg lifting. Friends of Bill Ector will get this reference and understand what it means. If the house rattles a little in the next few nights, that'll be Bill, all giddy with joy.

Ill sure check em out if they play near me.

BillyBlastoff - 3/23/2016 at 04:43 AM

I sure wish I were in Macon this week. Jack P ripped it up on New Year's Eve with Warren. I'm sure these are going to be outstanding shows.

You have that great rhythm section... I'd pay $25 just to see them.

I'm 150 miles from Macon and would love to be there. I will catch them at Wanee

TheBabe714 - 3/23/2016 at 02:05 PM

I was looking at some photos of Kirk doing a photo shoot of the band now, absolutely fantastic stuff.
Good for everyone who makes these shows, it's going to be 2 great nights of music.
Good for you guys man, have a great time and lets us know how it goes. Thanks ~peace

I agree with all said.. I was hoping to make it down but just couldn't pull it off and I have to skip Wanee this year for my daughter's bat mitzvah so I guess I have to wait til PeachFest. As for a tour, I have not discussed with anyone but the economics of it could be tricky. Need a big money gig to build it around maybe.

BTW, working on photo montage for my daughter and I bet she'll have the only bat or bar mitzvah montage in America with photos of Jaimoe and Brian Farmer.

Sometimes things just work out. In Americus Ga from Cleveland Ohio on business sitting on the Veranda at the historic Windsor hotel sipping a beer on my 61 birthday as the sun sets and I decide to check hittin the web just because I can. 85 miles I believe from Macon and I see Als post. If it is not sold out a short drive up I 75 and I'm there. Tomorrow night. Saw them at the Peach and they were sweet. Will also see them at Wanee but what a birthday treat I will give myself. Thanks for the heads up Al.

@mustangbob - you just made my day. No **** . Been texting with Kirk and it really sounds like a great time and everyone in a great mood. tickets are available but i'd grab asap to be sure.

RyanBelair - 3/24/2016 at 01:50 PM

Buddy of mine went to the show solo last night at the last moment and texted me the following throughout the evening:

- Decent Guilded Splinters, rocking Blue Sky, although the vocals weren't good, so far so good.

-Uninspired Please Call Home, a very cool bluesly number with real nice harp and organ! Then a solid Every Hungry Woman.

-Now Dreams and $5 Sweetwater Tall Boys!

- Dreams was great, both guitarist slayed it. Oteil has been tripping me out all night, a minute ago he slithered off stage and then poked his head back in and said "...we just came to jay...am."

- Song about "when I see you smile" after Dreams. Now an instrumental I am unfamiliar with, but it sounds good. I'm enjoying the organ player's jams.

- Very cool Ain't Wastin Time. Oteil is definitely high, ha!

-Whipping Post closer with cute girl singing (Heather Gillis).

- It was a good show, band seemed to be practicing as much as playing, or maybe experimenting is a better word. Crowd was thin, I basically held down the bar on stage level by myself. Glad I went, there were some cool moments!

That is not the entire setlist, know that Jessica was played for sure.

Ryan

Too bad about the thin crowd. Sounds like a good show. There should have been more folks there to enjoy.

ArtieL - 3/25/2016 at 02:34 PM

I saw them at the Peach last year, and can't wait to see them again.

I'm very eager to hear the Macon shows, were there any tapers?

goodlawdy2 - 3/26/2016 at 04:04 AM

Here's a clip of last night's show. Thanks so much Heather Gillis for uploading it! The music seems more than alive.

I was excited to read a "reliable source also has expressed that Boston, NYC, Philly and a South East run are all in the works for later this year. We look forward to confirming more dates with Les Brers."
