I love his music too. Amazing what a man can wring out of simple equipment without special effects pedals 'n gadgets. I've heard some good imitation by Arlen Roth. Some songs by Danny Cowan back in the 90's. There are some good tributes to Roy done at the Iridium. I've been a fan for so long and heard so much of his stuff that I've had to try to find other artists who try to keep his music alive. Miss him

Thanks for the post. Roy was tremendous, though often had a hard time being focused musically... his tone is so biting and his playing appears so effortless... I love the stuff he did with Billy Price on vocals... Here's an example...though it's a bad live bootleg:

One of my all time fav's. Here's a great PBS special that is part documentary, Go to 1:20 second mark for Bill Graham's intro as Roy plays his Tribute To Elmore James. It also includes some clips of him live with Merle Haggard and Nils Lofgren among others.

Love his album Dancing on the Edge with Delbert McClinton on vocals.

I bought my first record of his in high school. Went to the store to buy some Rory Gallagher (another guy who I had not listened to at that point), and got confused and bought Roy Buchanan.
Boy was I glad for that mistake. It was a greatest hits album, and I played it over and over and over. I couldn't get enough.
His take on Hey Joe is the definite version for me. There's a good youtube video of him playing Hey Joe. If I remember correctly, it might be Austin City Limits. It's tough to watch to some extent, because he looks like a troubled soul. But the music is awesome.

I was only familiar with "Second Album" & "Live Stock", until a brother from this site kicked down a handful of Roy shows several years ago. They still get plenty of spins.
